Very impressive! I seriously doubt there’s time enough in this life for me to attain your knowledge much less skill at building such incredible instruments, much less learning to wield one with any real mastery. Lucky for me, there’s still a great deal of joy to be had watching and admiring the skill and talent you have acquired in your time. Thank you for this!

Don't overthink it. Just go out, get some wood and make a bow. I made my first out of oak, using only a Mora knife and some sandpaper. A complete monster, hideous as can be, but it shoots! I really enjoyed making it.

When i was at school many years ago my favorite class was woodwork, i love working with wood. Unfortunately for other reasons ive not got back into this passion i had as a kid, but watching these as im learning archery at the moment just inspires me to get back into it, getting the necessary tools, preferably none electric and then one day making my own bow. I cant imagine the feeling of shooting a bow you have made. Fantastic content.

Osage Orange (A.K.A. Hedge) is the bomb for bows - but I only built one because the wood is ridiculously resinous and hard, and I completely used up several draw knives in the process. Going to watch your video with great interest.

If the SHTF scenario everybody keeps buggin' on about really happens, a man with your skills would be invaluable. If there are no more bullets available for guns , for protection &/or hunting, making quality bows and arrows would make for quite an asset anywhere around the world. Old school is pretty cool and at times even better than modern equivalents in my opinion. Your bows are like works of art and I think anyone would be fortunate to have one, well done Bowyer Hayes.

Acacia , is my next go. Used spotted gum sapling, was short, about 25inch draw failed after 20 shots, pretty sure I overdrew it. Yellow box worked too short 300 plus arrows, it's cracked but does still shoot, my fault again shortened it from 68inch to 62, won't do that again, Acacia is my next go to

Hi Clay... I think it's been a few years since I started commenting on your channel...(one of the best on bow-making out there I think for its concise brevity and clarity within the scope of information covered)...Today, after my 40 years on only traditional woodworking and now teaching it, I have to share an observation that I went back and checked on...and that is your tool style and usage... In the beginning, you presented with a clear ability in tools use within this craft...but in this video, for the first time (at least to me) you demonstrated a relationship with the tools that demonstrated clear extension of body, mind, muscle affinity with powerful but succinct execution of the tools with each draw or strike...Extremely well done, and displayed, with the results of a wonderful bow created...Thanks for an outstanding channel...!!!
