Felix Immler makes a lot of such contraptions from wood using his Swiss Army knife, and his recommendation with battening using such folding blades is to leave the blade open at 90 degrees to prevent the repeated blows from wearing out the spring locking mechanism, in order to preserve it for when you are hand-carving, so that the blade will remain steady and not slip due to the mechanism having come loose. I'm not certain if your Leatherman uses a similar mechanism, but if it does, I hope this piece of advice was useful!

Why the 90 degree trigger? The gas in most cans still works when the can is on it’s side. Seems a simpler solution would be to put the trigger lever near vertical with the air horn affixed to the base horizontally.

@@clayhayeshunter We do the best we can with what we have. :) I commend you.. Your knowledge will be incredibly valuable in a SHTF and a barter economy also..skills can be bartered for other necessities.. the hierarchy of necessity: Air, Water, Food, and shelter.. (in that order) skills and creativity will get you far in a barter world.. it can be traded. My comment didn't have any negative implication. It was just an alternative. I envy your creativity.. I have been preparing for a couple years for the possibilities we face in this crazy world. I don't like being caught off guard, so i prepare.. :) Peace to you Clay..
