Apneatech, a finalist in the AI category of the Isle of Man Innovation Challenge, is making significant strides in the diagnosis and management of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) with their innovative, low-cost wearable device. Based on simple, lightweight, and environmentally friendly technology, this device is designed to record actual breathing events during sleep, which are then analysed using Model-Driven Engineering techniques.
OSA is a prevalent condition affecting approximately 935 million people globally, with 425 million suffering from moderate-to-severe forms of the disorder. The rise in obesity rates worldwide is contributing to an increase in these numbers, making effective and accessible diagnostic solutions more critical than ever. Apneatech’s device meets this need by offering an easy-to-use, disposable solution that supports clinicians in identifying patients who require intervention.
