It’s all about production numbers. Even though it used both casts it was filmed using iCarly’s schedule and 2 episodes from that season’s episode order. It’s also what allows it to air altogether in one piece during marathons instead of being separated because the other half is from a different show.

I still love this crossover, it's one of the best ever! I especially liked how that got Keane Thompson on the show too. But my most favorite part of the episode/movie is definitely the ending with the theme song combination, I listen to it all the time, it's one of my favorite song combos.
