Icarus Exotics Beginner Guide Updated

Some runs i've found exotics in caves around m10 and m11. Left that mission once with 80+ exotics. They don't always spawn every run but def worth taking a peek into the caves when running through there.

DVE is the quest that unlocks random exotic spawns around the world that's why you're running into them randomly :)

Take a drop pod beacon. Gather the mats for the workstation smelter and orbital exchange on the way, set up the workstation and smelter in the cave where the exotics are, mine, smelt, build orbital exchange and call drop pod. mine exotics, send back and use drop-pod beacon to bring your pod to you.

I was thinking just that. Gotta grind your way across the mission tree tho, which needs exotics. So minimum a first time, won't have that yet.

Maybe it's just me? but when I followed your instructions, I was only able to find the exotics in the first cave. I didn't find any of the rest. Hope you guys are more fortunate thoe!

The devs may have changed this mission since i posted the video, I haven't played through it in a long time

They spawn in other locations TRIGGERED by mining in cave event (scripted by this mission only) you checked other locations first. Do cave and then they will be all other locations. Verified in last 12 hours.

there are actually 5 deposits there are 2 in the first cave then the other 3

Deep Vein Extraction is the mission that unlocks exotic deposit spawns in missions. Before you do DVE none will spawn in any missions, There is only supposed to be the four guaranteed spawns but since this mission unlocks the spawn you can get several in the cave if you're lucky :)

They should exist however I'm not sure if you need to complete deep vein extraction for them to appear first.

I`m in the open world i have all levels but never seen any exotics. This video works for the open word too?

Exotic nodes are unlocked after completing Deep Vein Extraction and exotics deposits are unlocked after completing Payday Extraction, as far as open world goes I'm not exactly sure when you get missions that give exotics but they are supposed the be "end game" missions.

Isn’t it possible to take that orbital thing with you and drop it right next to the 4th exotic, thus saving you the whole walk back?

you can but you still need to walk back to your drop pod so either way works about the same :)

@@TVTray So the only way to avoid the long walk would be this grenade from the workshop that brings the drop ship to the spot. So there are two drop ships (or whatever they are called), one to put the exotics into and the other one to take me back to the orbit. Is that right?

@Andreas West I suppose you could wait to call the drop pod in until you get to the fourth exotic. Just keep the radio in your inventory. Then, after the 4th exotic, you call in the drop pod, load it, send it back. Then use the beacon for your ship and complete the mission. That's what I would do.

Can you mine the exotics with an iron pickaxe? or you need steel?

Iron works, almost every pickaxe works the only difference between them is the yield. Ideally you would want to mine with a titanium or workshop pickaxe but its no a necessity.

​@@TVTray Actually the quality of your pickaxe doesn't matter, you get the same yield with a stone pickaxe, maybe it was different before

Great Video. Ive done this mission a few times. Its odd, you are getting 64 exotics. I only get half that amount? Do you know why?

its dependent on the yield of the pickaxe you use, one of the first thing I would recommend working towards is a better pickaxe :)

some changes but same idea, you need to make a station to extract the exotics but its still the fastest way for early game exotics farming
