The Biwa Rig, now being called mid strolling, has been around for a little over a decade in Japan. It pretty much started with the Fish Arrow Flash J. I’ve been throwing it for close to 10 years now, long before live imaging. It’s been my go to clean up bait for schools and going behind people in highly pressured places. There are far more baits for this technique in Japan and not all of them are directly minnow shaped, the Keitech sexy impact being one of the best. The Evergreen bassenemy stick is the best for cover, it essentially has a chindo that makes it able to be rigged weedless. The Picasso tungsten ball head with the wire weed guard is a solid head as well. To get the true 90+ degree side to side rock, a ball head is necessary and flat sided baits are the key. The biggest mistake I see people making with it is using too long of a rod. 6’10” is pushing it in length. Solid tips help a ton, especially if using a rod over 6’5”. The short rods are the key to not having to spaz shake the rod like your tweaking your balls off. Short rods allow you to not shake so hard, and allow you to get super light weights to rock side to side instead of bouncing up and down.
@clintsimpson46903 ай бұрын
Yeah there’s a reason MB rods have so many selections under 6’10”.

That Polly wog swimbait/frog is getting ordered today! And that "heart beat" I've always thought of making a lure like a popper but let water go through the body and came out the tail end (not the belly) and had a propeller on the back, call it the pop and prop. This is standard for a lot of the brands. Products are announced at ICAST, can be pre-ordered, but won't arrive until Winter.
@DavidBronstein19615 ай бұрын
Great vid. One thing I don’t get: the frog bait isn’t gonna be ready till October, when topwater season is over. Which means most folks can’t fish it till 2025. Which means the excitement over iCast launch is a distant memory. They had years to refine and relaunch this bait. Why couldn’t they have the bait ready to ship now? Seems like bad planning to me. And December for the Z-man swimbait! C’mon, how does that make any sense from a marketing standpoint? I’m not in the fishing industry so maybe I’m missing something but in in every other consumer market I know of, you don’t promote a product as heavily as iCast does without the ability to cash in on the resultant hype with instant shipping. Just don’t get it.
@tacticalbassin5 ай бұрын
I 100% understand and agree. But I also know the answer, and it has to do with required timing by national big box retails to setup and order new products. You'll notice small brands typically launch with product, but the baits that may ultimately end up on shelves at Walmart, Academy, Bass Pro, etc... run on this timing, and there's nothing they can do about it.
