It use to be the way go through St-Laurence river. (1km wide) so it was a job before. Boat were very different back then

Wow that looks pretty crazy. Looks like it takes some strategy and endurance. How do you train? It must suck if you put a foot in the water. Looks dang cold.

We wear wetsuit for the sox only. The movement of the rowing make it very hot so even falling in water is not a problem if you keep moving. Race are usually 1h30 to 2h long. And yes it take lot of strategy, reading the river with the current and the ice is not an easy things. Often 60 years old team can go for the podium because of experience. River never really freeze because of the tides and the current change side everyday too.
