Thanks. I'm just about to build my own thing. The problem is that nobody experiments any more and wants to have a step by step instruction to copy exactly, and the ones on youtube so far discourage everybody not having a 3D printer for the scaffold so they just order the commercial thing. There is always more than one way of doing a thing !

I found it quite rewarding to try a bit. Already i built myself the Poty antenna and when soldering the 0.3 mm metal plates to the tube it got distorted and uneven so quite ugly compared to the folks who machine the thing on the lathe out of bulk material, and to my surprise i found that the distance between the plates is not as critical as they want to make you believe. For the helical i had the idea a longtime ago of making the diameter just 6 cm instead of 4 so it is less of an obstacle to the LNB, and after this video i will not let myself get discouraged as easily.

@@earlyadapter643yeah, the Bullseye is wider than the original helix diameter.... What happens if we make the helix wider?

@@mrtechie6810 I don't know yet, so far i wrapped 2 turns around a 63 mm pvc tube and made the back reflector but no adjustments and measurements yet, will post it here as soon as i progress further.

Thanks for sharing, I'll stick to my Ice-Cone Feed V2.0. Works fine on my 90cm dish for the NB transponder. 73 de OO4M

UPDATE: YES. MUCH appreciated! Selecting a pre-heated crystal appeared sensible but popularity of Pluto and multiple Chinese copies of makes choice very expensive and an unlikely successful project without contemporary confirmations of 'right choices'. With thanks for your ongoing channel support

Good stuff, I have been using the v2.1 helix for a few months now, with great results. I'm definitely interested in seeing a more detailed video. 73, Jonathan, M0XXJ

That's a good film Mat. I've had my POTY housed in a series of pairs of poly bags for 3 years😂. I've recently started having QSOs on the narrow band. Frequency stability was an issue with an unmodified Pluto despite SDR Console's best efforts. I've pinched my mod'd Pluto from my Portsdown with a 0.25ppm TCXO and it's holding a steady offset. Now I have low strength signal reports to tackle. Kit and dish size are similar to yours. What transmit settings are you using? 73 David M0YDH

Are you using Heliax? A 90 degree connector? How long is your cable run? What are your thoughts about coax choice?
