Ice Fishing Vlog | Grilling surf & turf on the ice, catching fish

Kyle and I went ice fishing in northern MN and brought the charcoal grill to cook up some brats and a surf & turf meal. Skeeter approved of the snacks and got to run around. Thanks for watching!

I love these videos. Especially how you get Skeeter to be an integral part of your family I have great admiration for you and Kyle. You are very smart young adults to be able to stay off of the treadmill of the perceived "American dream" take it from a senior citizen, you will never,never,never, ever regret your decision to live the life you have chosen. I enjoyed that video. Great way to spend a couple days. Cant say it enough but , Skeeter is a Great Dog. He gets it. so smart and loyal I have a theory about dogs. Either they get it or they don't. My guy , Eli , gets it. He's a German Short Haired Pointer. Hunting dogs usually make the best pets. Especially when you give them a lot of love.

The best is dogs that "get it" with kids. Our pointer started sleeping at the door as soon as our son moved into his own room. He's six now and when he hurts himself in the yard (which is like every day basically) he'll come in causing a HUGE ruckus to get our attention. There are many times when I realize I'm not quite certain where the boy is and I'll say out loud, "Eh, I'm sure the dog's watching him. He's fine." lol

Quick story , a robin flew into a window at my place , I picked the robin and put him on a stump , Eli , my GSP sat next to the bird until he came back to his senses and flew away. That robin hung around all summer , and every time Eli was outside the Robin would visit with him.

Remember not the deepest hole in the lake holds fish most are suspended in the water and pike are predators so to find panfish is shallower waters that are near drop offs are best areas to fish same with walleyes they usually willb found near rocky weedy outcroppings but near panfish also like pike because they are predators.

I got a $30 adaptor for my hand auger so I can use a 1/2" chuck cordless drill to punch through the ice. I found that it works best to let the drill spin quickly and not push down on it. I am able to get through 22" of ice in about 10 seconds. (If you get one I'd look for one with a disc on in to prevent the auger from dropping down the hole if it come loose from the drill chuck.) As a born and bred lifelong Minnesotan, I still don't understand the attraction to ice fishing. Then again, the last time I went I was 4 years old. They plopped me on a 5 gallon bucket and I froze my ass off from 4 a.m. til whenever we left. So, admittedly not the best first experience. Looks like you 3 had fun though. Hi Cierra, I was thinking about your coat, it's so beautiful, you that rip on the elbow, you could take it to a tailor/seamstress and get the same colour leather material and let them sew both sides to patch it up and it will look like it's a pattern.
