Australian NRL don't play! Bare in mind this is somebody's opinion of top 100 NRL hit's. Plenty of bigger throughout history but this is a nice compilation regardless.

I laughed when you first chuckled at Jorge Taufua's name. Im fairly certain his hits are regarded as the biggest ever. His hit on Munster is probably top 5 at least and it does the rounds on the internet every now and then. He played for the Manly Sea Eagles in this video. They wear mostly maroon, or red, and white. There is a short video on youtube of Mark 'the ogre' O'meley crashing into Shane Webcke and both of them bouncing off each other, getting their feet back and going at it again. Ripper sport Rugby League.

You can lead with the shoulder but the arms must be attempting to wrap the player & the tackle must be below the shoulder

Newcastle Knights supporter here there are big tackles in every game not necessarily as spectacular as the ones on this video but you will definately get a few that would make the list each season. . Tackles where they dont use their arms have been outlawed the use of the shoulder charge will get 10 minutes in the bin and be reveiwed for possible further sanctions. The way they are sanitising the NRL it will end up being like rugby union over refereed and boring.

More than half of these "hits" are illegal head high "tackles" or shoulder charges

Yeah. Although the shoulder charge was banned in the NRL in 2012 (and internationally in 2013). So for the older video clips, not illegal, and for the newer clips, probably gave away a penalty. And for the head highs, it's harder to get away with that sort of thing these days.
