If you want to beat it in seconds with Sonic, just put in the "Tails follows you" cheat and you can make him fly while he's your partner, a la Mania. He unfortunately can't carry you, but he's great for attacking hard to reach enemies like this boss.

This is a brilliant theme composed by Tatsuyuki Maeda, who also wrote the similar-sounding Diamond Dust. This, along with Egg Rocket and Angel Island, have to be my favourite tracks in this entire OST. Although I could not get past this level when I was two years old, one thing's for sure -- I enjoyed hearing this theme, and it made replaying the level a fun experience. When I was messing around in the sound test, I probably spent the most time listening to this track. The instrumentation (strings, pianos, and the square wave) captures this level's environment well. Seeing how this is in A-major, it's why it has that peppy, joyous vibe. 👍

i like how the act 2 theme feels so much more happier than the first act, i just always imagined that act 1 is you threading amongst the snowy forest all alone, and act 2 is when you arrive at the snowy village with cozy fireplaces and hot cocoa. advance really has some good damn tracks

The boss in this level is one if not the most eerie in the entire game. Like, think about it, Robotnik has dropped you into WATER, your biggest fear of anything ever, and the only way that you can restore your air is via the surface, which you can get to by using the huge icicles that Robotnik drills, but you also need them to get to him and damage the Egg Spider. If that isn't enough, with Sonic, you CANNOT SWIM at all, and combined with his slow momentum in the water makes this easily one of the toughest, tedious, and most rigid bosses in the entire game, or the entire Sonic SERIES for that matter. Like, you really gotta fight this boss if you wanna actually believe me, that's for sure.
