I haven't had anyone yell at me for saying negative things (yet), and I've even had a couple of reps thank me and apologise for the problems I've found in their products. Almost all of the brands who have sent me PCs in the past have followed up, even after a less-than-positive review. After seeing what the big brands in tech do to review outlets like HUB and GN, I can understand why viewers would be skeptical, but so far my relationship with the mini PC brands has been pretty much completely chill.

About the low VRAM allocation making some games load tiny textures... I bet the game code is doing some simplistic check, either reading a max value of VRAM it can allocate, or trying to allocate at least x number of GB and if that fails, loading the tiniest textures they can. Or plugging in that small 300MB number as x into some formula to get the y maximum texture quality it thinks it can load. Something like that. It's weird to think of such simple and obscure code things changing graphical quality, but I've heard a lot of game bug post-mortems that turned out to be things like that. Or open-sourced/decompiled/reverse-engineered games with such quirks, bugs and odd behavior revealed and explained by preservationists and modders. Bit of tangent, but thanks for the video!

Yeah, mini pc's niche I think is for people who really need to save space or for businesses that just want to mount them to the back of a monitor for a workstation or something. I'm definitely aware free time is a hard-to-get currency these days but if you do get some, Spidey Remastered is fantastic on almost every front- and even on its down points found ways to surprise me. I did a 100% playthrough when I burned out on a raid tier and took a break from FF14, and that got me to pick up Miles Morales as soon as I could after- and both those games are easy 10/10s in my book, even with their flaws. Final Fantasy XIV has a new canned benchmark (owing to a new expansion and a significant graphical upgrade) that could be good for lower spec GPU stuff, or even mini PCs like this. Yes, it's on consoles with KBM support, but the likelihood of PS4 support going away with the next expansion feels high, so a PC would be the better way to do it. Just a suggestion, though you've no doubt got plenty of benchmark options on your hands.

The real crime is not being able to get these chips in a compact ultrabook WITHOUT a dedicated GPU. I've been trying to find something like a 7735HS ultrabook without a dedicated gpu, no such luck. WHY? If you dont want the DGPU youre stuck with a lower spec 4/6 core CPU with an inferior GPU.

Like if it was 2x the size it is now, but could run to its full potential and stay there indefinitely, would people complain about it being too large?
