Welsh is NOT British! But Wales and Britain are "part" of the United Kingdom. Some Welsh Nationalists see their land as an "occupied territory." It's language, Welsh, remains one of Europe's OLDEST spoken indigenous languages. Matthew's "natural" accent is not "watered down." A good actor portrays "a role," accent and all. That's why productions have accent/language coaches and films do countless retakes for whatever mistakes. Matthew's educated American accent is convincing.
