I once hurt my neck trying to take my foot from half guard for this position, think it's quite important people know this might happen, be careful.

Can this work in nogi without lapel grip
@yc25605 жыл бұрын
Absolutely
@omaral073 жыл бұрын
Wanna know the same, not if it would work but how
@samirgriggs76963 жыл бұрын
@@omaral07 don’t really need the lapel it just helps to hold the arm in place. He even lets it go to finish
@omaral073 жыл бұрын
Do anyone know if this would be legal for a blue belt in ibjf
@yc25603 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's legal, because it's mainly a shoulder lock. Tarik Hopstock did it at IBJJF tournaments at blue belt.

It's called Baratoplata and there is a whole DVD with this technique, set-ups and submissions (even flying baratoplata!)
@xkidmidnightx5 жыл бұрын
Nope. Different arms.
@lawdog815 жыл бұрын
No, you are wrong
@MachoMaster5 жыл бұрын
You are right, I was wrong. It is not Baratoplata. But it's a very similar technique and if someone is interested in this technique, he should definitely check the Baratoplata DVD, with set-ups, details, etc.

Seems like you’d be passing right over an easy kimura. I appreciate the style points though.
@darrenstettner5381 Жыл бұрын
@Kodiak Combat Collective yep. Had a few gaps but been pretty steady the past year.
@darrenstettner5381 Жыл бұрын
@Kodiak Combat Collective I musta missed that part. I kinda skipped past all the boring warmup and talking parts and just watched the technique portion. I can see how it might be useful transition if the person is fighting the kimura. Seems like maybe you can get more torque on their arm using your legs/hips with the tarikoplata. I haven’t tried it yet but think I will soon since I regularly get into that kimura position but can’t break their arm away from their body to apply the twist (unless I were to just ape strength it). I’m heading to Bangkok tomorrow and hoping to do a shit ton of training over the next month or two. Hopefully two classes a day if my body can endure it. Jiujitsu has saved me from some dark times. I need it to stay mentally/physically well.
