I was at Reynisfjara black beach just the other day. It is truly amazing! On the other side of the headland is basically the same beach, without all the tourists. It’s possibly my favourite place in Iceland, there’s something so beautiful about the black sand, the mountains in the background, the stunning geological features and the crashing waves. Not to mention the breathtaking waterfalls, glaciers, mountains and volcanoes!

I went there way back in 1983 for 3 weeks in July. Very few tourists back then. Still expensive but the most amazing country. My favourite of all time...REALLY want to return. about money it is not 100% correct. true is, that you can spend alot of money there. 10 days in iceland (in guesthouse) cost that same money as one month in 5 star hotel , all inclusive, in turkey. But why you call it expensive? With 250 us dollars per day you will be totally fine. WHO don´t have that money? and more important question...why someone don´t have that money? If someone is lazy to make money, than he/she is lazy to go to iceland either.

I went to Iceland in June last year and can honestly say it was one of the best experiences of my life. By far the best place I've ever been. Although I went with a group on a guided tour so next time Id definitely want to go in the winter time and explore in my own time so thanks so much for the tips!!! I can totally vouch for Reykjavík being expensive - I spent the equivalent of FOURTEEN POUNDS on a tiny notebook in this boutique shop. Would highly recommend visiting the penis museum also - such a laugh

There are many places where you can stay four one night ore camp ,it is not so expensive,it is rather European tariffs for camping modestly. One major tip ,bye a map from the year you want to travel...because the rivers are changing the roads every year ,so a map from 2015 can and will be different for shore,a specials the interior not the paved roads and ring road . Each year they relocated the roads and test them ,and than mark them with pools . Because water and snow and ice remap a great part of the interior. Also look out on the open planes of ashes, they look hard to drive on ,but sometimes a river passes under the surfaces so creates cavities as big as busses, and when you drive over it ,you can disappear for ever...because the cavity will fill itself back up with ashes . This tip was given my bye locals ,nice people when they start to know you. Have a safe trip.

Krónan is also cheap and has a wider variety. Don't drive off the road. Follow every sign, they're there for a reason. Don't feed the horses anything but grass. Don't walk outside marked paths, even though other people are doing it. Follow the weather forecast, especially during autumn and winter. Iceland has a regular European cord. Bring good hiking boots if travelling in nature, if not; normal winter boots suffice. You can use cards wherever and the local currency is Icelandic Króna (ISK), don't change it at the airport, it's more expensive. Go to the local banks! Reykjavík has a great variety of local cuisine (or to be more specific, restaurants that use local products), try them out! Try Hlöllabátur or Nonnabiti instead of Subway. Try Hamborgarabúllan instead of Metro (Iceland's answer to McDonald's) Try Eldsmiðjan, Eldofninn and other local chains instead of Domino's (even though Domino's is killer here) Try Jarðböðin at Mývatn instead of the Blue Lagoon (if you're travelling North, it's cheaper, less crowded but still the same) Try to travel West and North instead of South, less tourists, but same kick-ass landscape Get a 4x4 if you're hiring a car, you get to travel all the highland roads! Be careful and respectful! Also, enjoy being disconnected from social media while you're experiencing the nature. A lot of places have a bad connection, and the nature is worth your attention.
