Iceland was pretty isolated from the rest of Europe in the middle of the Atlantic. From what I remember. It wasn't until satelittes started sending TV about mid 80's when they were able to join the EBU and enter the contest.

Iceland has had such bops in the past and this is a country that I look forward to seeing wining the contest soon. Sweden and Albania are also amazing countries in Eurovision, waiting anxiously for those as well.

Iceland holds the record for coming 16th in 3 consecutive years.(86,87,88) And they are the only scandinavian country that have no victory in eurovision

2006 was a woman in character - who stayed in character as a super mean diva during much of the contest. People thought she was "for real" but it was all an act. 2016's entry might be one of the most ridiculous NQs ever, one of the biggest robberies, if not the biggest one!

My favorite Icelandic entry is 2008, and I think if 2020 wasn't cancelled Iceland would probably have been in top 5, and coming 4th in 2021 was well deserved I think.

So funny enough, the group in 2020 and 2021 is kind of a family affair. The lead singer and one of the keytar players are husband and wife and his is sister is a background singer. Also according to Wikipedia Iceland didn't enter until the 80s bc their broadcaster didn't cement their satellite connection with the rest of the continent until then.

I love your reaction! Good humor. Eyþór Ingi is actually a friend of mine, check out his cover of She's Gone, sung at an outdoor concert in 2014. Best singer of the country in my opinion
