The warnings were all around the place since the last eruption. Everybody knew there was lava building up because there were earthquakes. This is the most expected & awaited eruption in the history of Iceland. The title disrespects the Icelandic scientists and public services.

The previous eruptions were preceded by earthquake swarms that allowed them to start evacuations even before the magma reached the surface. This time the were only a handful of small quakes before the eruption started, thereby surprising the people living there as well the scientists monitoring the volcano
