Icelandair has always been an interesting carrier. Due to its base of operations, it has always used niche aircraft to serve niche routes. Although Iceland is in Europe, it’s still too far away to be closely connected like the rest of the continent. That’s why they get most of their revenue from passengers flying between Europe and the U.S. because of its convenient location in the North Atlantic. Although the Icelandair route network has grown in the last 5-10 years, there was always one part I admired about the airline. Their constant use of the 757 aircraft. That’s why it only makes sense that Icelandair has the honor of operating the longest 757 flight from Reykjavík, Iceland, all the way to Portland, Oregon on the American West Coast.
