Prebiotics are the base that you need for your gut microbes to eat & flourish. (Pre = before, as in, it needs to be there before the microbes can work their wonders.) It's fiber. Probiotics are the additional microbes that you ingest. (Pro=forward, as in, these new microbes move everything forward & *promote* [move + forward] good digestion.) It's the added microbes, like those in yogurts and fermented foods.

Oh, no, vegan yogurt! You can tell Andrew is super-enthused for this taste test [prepares to choke on lunch from laughing . . . puts down fork] Poor guy, it's one of his least favorite foods and he's got a wall of them to sample. I love the own-brand oatmilk yogurt from our Michigan-based big box grocery, Meijer. It pretty neutral tasting with a pleasant tang, as is their almond milk one (they have a coconut milk yogurt but I haven't tried it because those usually taste overwhelmingly of coconut), so I'm curious to see how this skyr stacks up. Appreciate the sacrifice; thanks for posting 🙂

I'm really glad I discovered this channel, I've been lost ever since I was diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitis. Once I discovered your channel.. I binged everything and saw something where you stated you support the LGBTQ community, which I am a part of. So I'm in love with your channel and can watch without any moral qualms. Thank you for being amazing.

Between yogurt and mushrooms, I appreciate Andrew continuing to broaden his tasting range for us. Even though he doesn't like those textures/foods, I do and thoroughly enjoy experiencing them flavors through his palate 😂 I enjoy the Icelandic dairy skyr but would definitely be interested in trying the oatmilk ones. Was it very sour?Kefir/probiotic dairy usually has a strong tang due to fermentation, so I'm not surprised at the twisted faces you both made at the plain, haha. I sub in kefir for anything that calls for buttermilk, so I wonder if the same can be done dairy-free. Fruit helps mask it and blueberry (or any berry) pairs well with the flavor. Thanks y'all!

Thank you for this comment. I was definitely looking into using this as a substitute for buttermilk😉😊

You should review the Blue Zones Kitchen frozen meals. I got them at whole foods and for being frozen the sodium is pretty low but flavor is pretty good Edit: I do add extra rice to the rice ones though as I feel there's too much sauce and it makes it more of a meal

Aww that was cute at the end... As for the yogurt, I'll pass lol. Also what do you do with the lefovers especially if you dont like them?
@MakeItDairyFree5 ай бұрын
So we usually let our kids taste them, there are often things that they like or like enough that they will eat it even if we didn't. If it's something in a package where we didn't touch it all then we will give to friends/family to try. For this specific video, we have been adding them to our smoothies for added protein instead of our normal protein powder and it's been going well.

Sounds like the plain is more like a quark than a yoghurt. That's very European. And delicious. Try the tangy substitute. Use quark as a low-fat substitute for cream in sweet and savoury dishes like carrot cake, lemon cheesecake and in béchamel sauce when making lasagne.

I just tried the vanilla and it's the first non-coconut yogurt (other than soy Silk) that is actually good. It's creamy and has no weird aftertaste (but I would like it a little more tangy). The protein content is great so I hope the plain one is at least tolerable lol.

Skyr is actually a soft cheese that is similar to Greek yogurt.

My favorite brand. I purchase the plain, and add either date or agave syrup to taste. I prefer this over Greek for the higher protein.

I recently have been looking for a dairy free yogurt that is not coconut as those seem high in saturated fat and low in protein. I have tried this in the plain and it is the only one I would want to eat thus far. But not straight on its own. I don't find it tangy at though. Has an odd flavor for me but tastes fine with fresh berries and granola though going heavy on the fruit and granola. I want to try making some plant based yogurts myself tool
