ICF New Construction Build - Under Slab Rough In Plumbing

Episode 10: John explains how the rough in plumbing works under the slab as the crew puts in the main sanitary line and plumbs the showers, toilets, vanities, and washer/dryer connection. ICF walls allow up to a 2" pipe to be plumbed right in the wall! The benefits of plumbing and ICF house are covered along with the benefits of plumbing a single sanitary line for under the slab.

It is vented and has two air emittance valves. The more recent plumbing video has all the details.

Why is their no atmospheric vent on anything? And your floor drain is an S-trap, that makes a natural siphon.

How did you pass inspection with that san tee on it's back for the floor drain?

I have watched videos mentioning that using sched 80 vertical pipes cuts down the water moving noise a lot. But note that I have no practical experience on this and I am not a plumber and I am not even a KZbin expert. Smile

The cut away showing the concrete reflects a very good job pouring and vibrating. I did not see any indication of any aggregate in the concrete showing in the cut away. Do you know what concrete mix you used for that pour? This is a REALLY nice ICF build series. We are about to build a similar ICF home "kinda sorta" DIY. 👍

It's not in the video but we do vent all the way to roof after the floors go up. Hooked up plumbing last week and everything works great!

All my fixtures runs down one side of the house 32 by 72 2403 square footages bathroom, dining room,kichten,laundry room,master bathroom is there any steps up to take or just branch off all the way thur with the right fall on pipes and right fixtures

@7:53 with respect to your vanity being flush with the wall to look like a built-in: In order to get the look you want, keep in mind your vanity top will be hanging over off the vanity face by 1.5" - 2".

Where are the vents?

They route up through the upstairs bathroom. We have one vent connected to all the bathrooms up through roof.

My plan when o build is to let all pipes loose and accesible in case of a hiccup....meaning i donot break any slab or concrete looking for the problem and finding it....key words are accesible, easy to diagnose, and easy to repair with a no hastle clean job....what do you tkink?

That is easily accomplished with a crawl space, harder to do with a slab for sure.

Is anyone on the job a licensed plumber??? Not sure which code or jurisdiction you are in, but you have missed a few important things/details. Every time I hear “ dry fit the layout “ , I am concerned about the ability of a person. We professionals maybe fit one or two joints ahead, never a whole layout. Good luck.

Great question! Our ICF builder told us to put in clean gravel prior to the rough-in plumbing, so we did. His crew then went in and put the plumbing in. We agree with you that it seems like an awful lot of work and an odd way to do things.

Agreed! This is the way our contractor is used to doing it, so he did it his way.

We did! It is not a huge issue in this part of the country, but we didn't want to have to do anything retroactively if we ended up with a problem. We ran pvc pipe under the slab that will terminate in the mechanical room. We can add a fan to it and vent it outside the house if. needed

You might want to focus the camera on the Job rather than yourself. People want to see what's going on with the plumbing rather than the plumber.
