Ichiban Con 2011 - Lisa Ortiz as "Lina Inverse" casts Dragon Slave

Lisa Ortiz, voice of Lina Inverse from the Slayers anime series casts the famous "Dragon Slave" spell for fans at Ichiban Con January 8, 2011.

I got to meet Lisa in person at Anime SouthEast this year. She is an awesome woman and really enjoys her fans. Lots of signing and even got a huge hug the last day of the Con. Though I did get called a meanie when I asked her a hypothetical question: "Who would you rather be locked in a room with: Martina or Naga?" LOL

The seiyuu for Slayers are great, and my guy loooooves the seiyuu for Lina Inverse. I told him, however, that I was first able to watch and collect Slayers as dubbed not subbed, so I was accustomed to the VA and enjoyed their work. In fact, Lisa Ortiz, Crispan Freeman and others from that stable of Viz actors were remarkably well cast and able at their roles for all those 90s and beyond projects. I wish I could get him to watch Lisa-Lina, because I always felt that it was a case of the english dub cast being so very similar in style and sound to the original seiyuu that he wouldn't really miss the original seiyuu. I'm going to try showing him this clip, just to let him hear her say the Big Line we all know (and because I love that she had to correct the spell in the script, but well done her and Crispin
