Lmao what I always think is that this is only the BEGINNING of Bleach, we have Sooooo much more to explore and experience, but yet this one episode STILL gives me chills 👏👏.... Also to answer you're question, YES, the reference of Ichigos appearance was to Kaien. Idk to me it's not about that they "Look the same" even though they do, just ones older with dark hair, but they both have that energy to them and Charisma... So does Kukaku and Ganju... kinda lol

I really like that Ichigo and Renji's moment, entrusting Rukia to him after everything that happened. A funny thing is that in the manga, Ichigo doesn't greet Renji; he just stares at him in surprise, and when Rukia is talking to him, Ichigo simply goes "RENJI, CATCH!". (Chapter 152)
