Even if his Japan league’s hits are not counted, no one would doubt that he could not achieve 4000 hits in MLB.
@TheBrainSpecialist3 жыл бұрын
Considering he set the NPB single season hits record in his first full season with the BlueWave (1994, 210 hits), yeah, I believe it. It wouldn't be broken till 2010, and even now its still 3rd all time. And the two guys who broke it (Matt Murton in 2010 with 214 and Shogo Akiyama in 2015 with 216) played 14 more games than he did, 144 as opposed to 130. Legendary stuff.

Ichiro has the record for most hits in Japanese pro ball plus MLB. But Pete Rose actually has more if you count his MLB hits plus his Triple A hits in the minors,a nd at that time, Triple A level was better than Japanese level (might still be)

@@alsimmonshellspawn6021 True, but Pete was clearly the better baseball player. His career OPS+ is 118, and Ichiro’s was 107. Pete’s career OBP is 20 points higher, ….. .375 to .355. Ichiro stole more bases, and did it at a higher rate, but Pete hit way more doubles, hitting over 40 in a year 6 times, and once hitting over 50. I think Ichiro reached 30 only once. Pete was a very solid defender at five different positions, including at least fifteen years as an infielder, playing regularly for years at each position….first, second, and third. Ichiro was an all time great fight fielder, but it’s not enough to make up for the discrepancies in hitting. They share the record for the most seasons compiling 200 or more hits…each did it ten times. Both of them rarely missed a game, and they both hustled on every play. Two of the most entertaining players in history….Each won an MVP. Pete deserved hi, Ichiro did not deserve his.

People say that Ichiro's time in Japanese league was of lesser competition. That is irrelevant when he hit 10 years in a row at over 200 hits per year! He has the record for the most hits in history. Look at his play in outfield. Golden glove superstar. Imagine if he started his career in the majors and amassed his numbers.

@@joemarshall4226 That is debateable and I don't think so. You want to put the triple a boys against the Japanese League squad in this years World series?? Japan smoked the US this year. It would have been laughable with the triple a team. Triple a is exactly that. The minors. It don't count for anything nor does anyone do so. Again, it's all irrelevant as he hit 10 yrs in a row at over 200 hits per year in the majors. He's proven without a shadow of a doubt that he's the Big BOSS...
