Thanks for great video. I have the same HF radio , and I think the same dual band radio too. The icom will run to a dipole in the attic (HOA rules ). And I have the same tuner as well ..

@K5GRY I have a question... how hard is it to put a 1/2 inch solid copper pipe 7 feet in the ground? Any type of special equipment you recommend I use? Please respond, thanks.

I can push all 8 feet in by hand. It depends on your soil.

Gary, is it really necessary to have the IT-100 with the 718? I'm pretty serious about getting the 718 as my first HF rig, heck it'll be my first radio. Money is tight so I need to try to save money where possible. KE8DRH

It's not NECESSARY if you have a resonant antenna, but you'll want to get one to give yourself a little more flexibility on what bands you can operate on. I'd add one ASAP after you get your radio, and be careful not to operate over 10 W or so while checking SWR.

Ah! Thanks for the 10w comment! I have the 718, got it the other day, along with my general upgrade. Lots to learn, I want that tuner, & a power supply, but was concerned about power levels as I don't have an swr meter, either. Yes I'm new to all this

@K5GRY Thanks, but I have another question. The wire that I would connect from the radio to the pipe (ground) is supposed to be connected via electrical tape before I hammer the pipe in? Just curious, but why is that? Thanks again.

I have this same equipment, but I also have a mfj sdr switch, where should i put that in the chain, between the radio and tuner or after the tuner?

Piss poor rf choke. should have left in on the coffee can and piss poor wrapping. NEVER have the input and output of the choke touching. And it's not the wraps that make the choke. It's the length of cable you use. 18-21 feet of cable. Inductance is a fickled thing!
