ICOM 7300 versus ICOM 756 PRO 2- using same antena & settings!!!

These tests need to be done on signals that are weak, not signals that are 20 over 9! And most people make videos with signals that are very strong. All radios sound good with strong signals. The ability to dig out weak signals is where you can see how a radio performs. Having said that, around 9:20 we finally have a somewhat weak signal .. but the focus of the video is strong signals only. DIG OUT the weak signals, using all the tools available. yes, i did make it and no diference between, i live in a countryside with low noise floor . for me ic 7300 sounds a little pleasant to me. 73

Great video. If you could do the same test with an external speaker for both radios, that would really make a great comparison. The Pro has a deeper, warmer, bass sound to it and the 7300 seems like you can hear the noise more, less bass and more highs. The internal speakers in both radios could be playing a part in it.

thanks, for me icom 7300 sounds better and spectrum scope in LIVE, icom 756 pro 2 and pro3 its a little delayed, not live like icom 7300

I own both radios, including the Pro 3, and with the same quality external speaker, they both sound identical to me. Those are stations from (SV land) Greece you are listening to. Ironically, they were conducting a/b tests with antennas.

The 756 "pre amp" is off.... In the 7300 is ste to 1...is not same settings for both radios.

hello, both radios has same setting, icom 756 pro2 ( look at the screen) preamp OFF -ATT OFF, icom 7300 there is no preamplifier activated( when preamplif 1 or 2 is on it will appear on the screen) and ATT its also OFF. i share same antena on both radios.

I have a pro 2 with the Inrad filter mod.. Listening to stations with a filter setting of 3.5 everyone sounds great....

When you test selectivity you will find the 7300 RX front end is as wide as a barn door! Useless for contest work or where you have other TX's in the same area like a large contest station, DX'pedition or field station. Sold mine, there are far better radios for the same or less money these days. A FTdx-710 is in a different class, even the IC-756 Pro2/3 has a better RX.

The difference which I can hear is the sound which mostly depends on a speaker and built in an amp.

hi, all SDR radio icom 7300, yaesu ft dx 10, etc sounds better than standard radio...better smoth sound on ear and sdr have live spectrum scope and water fall , unlike icom 756 pro 2 on this video which its not real time 100% 73

Hello colleagues, I also have the same radios, first of all the body of the ICOM 756 PRO, PRO 2 and Pro 3 has a better resonance of the speaker, due to the size of the radio body. It is the same with the body of a large acoustic guitar and a small one, the large one always has a better sound and resonance due to its size. But when I use an external speaker for both the Icom 756 PRO II and the Icom 7300 , they sound almost (I emphasize almost) identical.

audio sounds way better on the 7300.... it may be the cause of the speaker on the 756 pro2 is facing downwards towards to bench, where-as the 7300 is facing upwards

When the bandwidth is the same they sound very similar, the 7300 just has a bit more "white noise". In the video the Pro 3 bandwidth is set to 3.6K, should be 2.4 or 2.6K the they will sound the same. This video proves nothing.....
