I had both side by side in my shack and I kept the IC-7600. With all the DSP adjustments and other RX functions there's no way the pro 3 is better.

I love the smoothness of the 7600 receive audio. Gone is the gritty digital edge of the 756^3

IC-756Pro III is a nice rig but not as sensitive as IC-7600. Now, I should be surprised to see a test between IC-7800 and IC7600. Thanks for sharing.

Well done Mr Garth. This should be a nice tool for information as your video showed just about all that is needed to be seen and known about these two wonderful transceivers. Keep up the good work fellow. I'm looking for more videos. Thanks for sharing.

756proIII has more noise when testing at around 4:55. You can see the difference that the 7600 is real nice on receive. 756 is to noisy.

Ive got a 7300 in the mobile, a 756 pro III and a 7610 in the shack. I borrowed a 7600 from a friend before I bought the 7610 to do the comparisons. The 7300 and 7610 outperform the 756 Pro III hands down on both RX and TX. A buddy lives 68 miles away behind a bunch of mountains. He was difficult to copy at best on the Pro III. My old President Lincoln on the base antenna hears him better than the 756 III, the 7600 hears better than the Lincoln and pro III and the 7610 hears best of all. The 7300 and 7610 beat em all on tailored stock TX audio as well. My old vintage President Lincoln does have schottky's in the NB though and it now sits on the shelf waiting in the wings next to the Pro III. No, the Pro III is not for sale!

So many comments about audio quality, but what about "receive" quality, ie, the ability to pull in the weak stations. There are numerous things you can do to improve audio quality, but a good receiver must be designed into the rig.
@Dreadlk11 жыл бұрын
I think thats excactly what the video demonstrates. The 7600 has a vastly supperior Rx section. It really shows up when you have heavy QRM that will swamp the Pro III.

@Mr6Y1X - only one thing!! You either failed to mention or didn't realize that in the menu there is an adjustment for audio recieve bass & treble setting. That lack of full body sound in your review can be adjusted. Deffinitely the ProIII on top of the 7600 will effect quality the sound is being covered by the ProIII. No doubt! All in all still a good vid. 73!

The audio is wonderful on the 756. Are you sure your using the filters properly on 756? You make the 756 look like it has no ears?
@1OFGODSOWN9 жыл бұрын
I noticed that you turned on the NR button but you never adjusted the NR knob? I find that unless the NR knob is 12:00 or higher you are not getting the maximum affect that it can provide as well as holding the NB button & adjusting all three of the settings which will also reduce a lot of noise.I have only had my own 7600 three weeks Today but I have learned the controls very well & find many almost the same as the 756 PROII & 746 PRO that I owned before it.If you have the tools in the radio I feel you should use all of them for the best possible reception. de W4KVW

I can't stand the new 1.8t and 2.0t engines. Hate the sound hate limited bandwidth and they are rough. Still rocking my old vr6 12v with cams, chip and magnaflow. The engine and transmission are in the 350000km range and got pushed for 20 years. Put a smile in my face each time i start the engine.

I Did use the Audio Equalizer, the Bass was set at about 3 and the Treble at 2. That gave the best sound from the 7600. I just did not show that because KZbin limits videos on basic accounts to 12 minutes each so I just could not cover about 50% of the tweaks I made before doing the video. I OPTIMISED all settings that could not be tweaked during filming before filming.

N2RRAny -- I just failed to mention it because there are just so many options on this Rig that I had to limit what I could cover on the videos. One of the first things I do with a new Radio is adjust all the settings to what I consider Optimal "for me". The 7600 had Bass and treble already set for the fullest sound without it getting too muddy.

Very good review! I bought an IC-7600 I'm hoping, it seems a good choice, excellent performance... CU on the bands.

I really think you need to watch the Video right through till the end. There is a huge difference in the 7600 when it comes to dealing with close in stations (QRM) and also when dealing with weak stations. The only thing the ProIII does better in Rx is that it has a better internal speaker and therefore sounds more full bodied with the stock speaker

Really not worth exchanging a ic 756 Pro II or III on the other ic-7600. Regarding the cost benefit of both equipment. The icom did a makeup to charge more for the IC-7600. In my view should have kept the two meters both analog and digital. If you look at the layout of the pcbs and check chassis that are very similar in their construction. Another thing I did not like was the small tuner knob in relation to the radio. The receiver in the IC-756 it has triple conversion, already in 7600 is only double conversion. Why this? And not to mention the audio quality speaker reproduced in the proIII what is best. You still have questions?As I said I'd rather stay with my 756 PROII! Have the IC-7700 is something else, then it gives to change. PY3CS

Carlos Schaefer I just went from an ICOM 756 PRO II & the receiver is daylight & dark different between the two radios when all of the filters are used that are available.I thought the PRO II was Awesome right up until I turned the 7600 on & set it up & I am no longer impressed with the 756 PRO II.Besides that the screen will fail in the 756 PRO II as mine & others have started doing on a pretty regular basis & odds are you will not be able to get it repaired because there are no replacement display boards which I found out when mine failed.I sold it as a parts radio & purchased my New ICOM 7600 & am not sorry at all because the 7600 really is a much better radio in so many ways.I use an amplified external speaker & a ClearSpeech DSP module with all of my radios which made even the 7600 better. de W4KVW
@Mr6Y1X12 жыл бұрын
You will really enjoy the 7600 it's is a fantastic Receiver with a Swiss Army knife worth of tools to help tune in weak stations and customize the Radio. My best advice is buy an external speaker and the unit will be all that much better.
@Mr6Y1X12 жыл бұрын
That may be so but I was just Reviewing the Radios out of the Box. I found the 7600 speaker to be so poor that I also bought (well made) an external speaker. So I think we both agree that the internal speaker is poor.
@JuscelinoRochaRF7 жыл бұрын
in fact, Icom is a master at customizing their equipment to charge more for them. The IC756PRO2 DSP has a click problem that has been resolved in IC756PRO3. But it would not justify the price increase and says that pro3 is a breakthrough in pro2. Because it is not. IC7600 seems to be much more sensitive than PRO3. PRO3 is deaf and noisy.

tnx for ur effort ! I like both rigs and probably would buy a pro 3 to save 1000-1500 dollars versus a new 7600.If money were not an issue, the choice would probably be for the 7600.I do prefer the full bodied audio sound of the pro 3 but the commentators assure us that we can get that in the 7600 using eq. base settings.Either rig would be an improvement over my IC-7200 because of the bandscope feature.I do wonder how much better would be the sensitivity and noise floor differences between the 7200 and pro 3 or 7600....73 & tnx agn. The band can roll & change in 1-2 seconds, you should have a switched set of relays hooking each radio to the same speaker, but when switched moving one rig to an 8ohm resistor while the other gets the shared speaker.
@Mr6Y1X11 жыл бұрын
Your kidding right! The test you are seeing is in a High QRM environment and what you are seeing is the receiver front end being swamped by the stronger adjacent signal. This is one of the most common events in Ham Radio and you say you have never seen it! Thats why high end receivers have roofing filters and IF DSP along with other things to help prevent the receiver from being overloaded by adjacent signals.

So THAT'S why I just had to get rid of my Pro3, I just couldn't stand that edgy crispy audio! The 7600 is definitely smoother, more like a Kenwood and much less harsh. Guess I'll begin saving up for a 7600.

Not at all, listen to the narrator's voice and compare it to the sound of the two rigs. The Pro3 is edgy, harsh, crispy and unnatural whereas the 7600 sounds almost exactly like the voice ov the narrator, smooth and without that ugly high frequency edge, unless your hearing has dropped out above 2KHz!
