This mod has nothing to do with what the radio will TX and RX on. Its a mod for the fan, the fan wll be running while the radio in in RX. The guy has put this in the heading. Thx for the video...

Hi! Have done exactly this mod on my IC706MK2G, works great now, always low temperature even in long transmissions !! Best 73 from SM6AAL

are you still using this radio ?

Extremely simple and really effective. TNX!

does this mode run the fan only when on? I dont want to run the fan when the radio is off. Somewhere there is a mod that runs the fan in a slower speed when you turn it on and higher speed when you transmit.

I done mine today, makes a huge difference

Just asking ???? I have done the MOD to expand the radio, by taking out the diode, but I would like to know what the other diode is for ???? Is it to BLOCK the TX on 88MHz to 108MHz Bye from John 73's

is this issue excists to first models ,mine have serial number 107..... ,i don;t get it to my hands yest just bought it from a store used as new condition and read about this problems

Do you know if a 706 first model, is meant to have the fan running in RX mode. Mine does. I wondered if someone has modified it already or if it was meant to be like this.

The fan on my 706MK2G runs occasionally when in RX too. I don't mind TX but in RX iI don't like listening to it. I might use the remote cable and place the 706 further away.

Good morning! Shortens the fan's life?
@TheTemporalAnomaly Жыл бұрын
The cost of replacing a worn out fan is much cheaper than replacing the components that are commonly damaged by heat in this radio. Even with this modification the fan will last for years, I did my mod 12 years ago and my fan is still ok.

@@TheTemporalAnomaly are you still using this radio ? i found one in good shape and thinking about buying it for pota
@TheTemporalAnomaly22 күн бұрын
@@bobbyt3451 Yes, I still have the radio and it`s working without any problems. The fan is still spinning all the time, keeping the radio cool. No problems as of yet. Apart from the high power requirement while on RX (2 amps!) the radio great. I would buy another without hesitation if needed.
@TheTemporalAnomaly22 күн бұрын
@@bobbyt3451 I`m a bit slow here, I just replied to you saying the radio is great but that was before I saw the word `porta` If that means in a car then the radio is still great but if you are intending to use it on batteries, I would think again. 2 Amps on RECEIVE !!

Do you make modifications without knowing why? I think you did open your transiver for out of band Tx, but you do NOT be able to transmit on 70-120Mhz, connect a frequency counter and Tx there and you se that the radio dosent. Tnx sq7bce for the clip.

That was the worse soldering job I have ever seen. If you do this like his example you will likely have the resistor fall of the cold solder glob and short out something causing damage to the radio. His first cold solder glob nearly shorted out his red fan wire (Positive) to ground. Apparently no one ever taught him how to make a strong physical connection before soldering. You should keep the leads of the resistor short, bend them in a loop/hook, tin and solder them to a wire, then prep and tin a hook wire where you need to make contact.
