I’ve got an FT-847 and doppler works fine with Gpredict. I am thinking of going for an IC-9700 but with this, plus problems I’ve heard reported with SDR Console QO-100 rig control and stability issues with the radio I’m getting nervous about changing. Did you fix this?

hi, absolutely, I think I will even delete that video because it is no longer the case, I've made another video explaining how to configure gpredict for windows with the IC9700 and it works pretty well.

@@Aleziss OK - thanks for the feedback - I'll have a look.

@@rjy8960 you're welcome, it's in the first videos in my ham radio playlist, rather long video but explained in details and it works nice now.

Where did you get the rig definition 381 for the 9700? 73
@Aleziss4 жыл бұрын
Hello, you can find the latest daily snapshots here : n0nb.users.sourceforge.net/ but I have not got sucess with the latest one. These are alpha/beta releases so many bugs can be found but this is where you'll get the 381 definition. The only one I have been able to make work was v0.10.2. The newer supposedly stable version does not work anymore, I've tried to report this multiple time but I do not get any answer back from hamlib team unfortunately... You tell me if you have success with the lastest daily snapshot, I mainly use it with Gpredict for windows.

You are not in satellite mode. I would try that first.

that was my point to show to Micheal Black who did program the hamlib library for the 9700, he tested it on my radio. In gpredict you can set which vfo is the transmit and which one is the receive but it did not work as you can see here, this video was done with a beta release of hamlib (I might delete it actually is it is now fixed in satellite mode). I wanted to have hamlib to work OUT of satellite mode, in my opinion, it would be way better but this is not how it turned out. I made another complete video on how to setup hamlib and gpredict for windows on my channel and it works ok once you understand the limitations of gpredict and the civ protocol of the ic9700

@@Aleziss Oh very good, I will check out that video. I have owned a 9700 for a while now but am new to sats. I just bought a PC to try to do automated doppler and rotor control as I only have a mac at home. What, in your view, are the limitations of gpredict? And also, do you recommend hamlib/gpredict vs something like satpc32?
@Aleziss3 жыл бұрын
@@HarvBow07 if you have a mac, you should check macdoppler, beautiful program and it works pretty nice with the ic9700, you need to buy it though... I am not a mac user but I have friends who use macdoppler and they are quite happy with it. I HATE satpc32, it looks like an interface from 1987 but got update to run modern radios, I find it horrible to navigate on that program, way outdated but for a strange reason, everybody enjoy using it... gpredict/hamlib is free and way more fun and usefull to run than satpc32, but that is my opinion... If you ever decide to go with gpredict for windows (it also run on mac but I am not sure how to run hamlib on mac), the link to my video might be helpful for you to setup everything under windows see it here : kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZDZq2iuerZqeac I hope you find it what you need, I did my best to describe each step on how " I " did it, their might be other ways to do this but for me it is how I did it and once you understand the limitations of gpredict/hamlib and the 9700, it works pretty nice. Good luck and I hope to maybe catch you on sats !

Try PTT status = none.

I think I am going to remove that video, this was a test with a beta version of hamlib, I have done a new video on how to set everything up and it works nicely now thanks for comment
