I’ve loved ICON for years now and it’s no wonder why. Jonathan’s vision has come true to life, but he also recognizes what it is and where it could go if he was all about the Benny’s. Anyone that owns anything they have built should be thankful he’s true to what the brand was intended to be. Amazing work, truly.

Jonathan Ward is an inspiration. An inspiration not only to designers, but to all creative people with a desire to make things. His story, his eye for great design, and his willingness to share his journey is truly unique. So many of us dream of doing something big only to fall into the day to day, pushing buttons, just surviving, never to experience that "rock star" designer job image that's force fed to us in school. Jonathan challenges those conventions and as a result creates some extraordinary things.

After knowing about this company for many years, am very proud of what they have become. I have been looking and drooling over their products for said years, until we recently purchased a 1971 JF 40. We have spent the past year restoring it to the point where it still has it't battle scars, but we have given it new life inside. These guys are a huge inspiration to ward what we do, even though we like to keep it mostly original.

The people at Icon are heroes. Just the fact they maintain, restore and keep vehicles like the ones they work on, on the roads is enough. They are pieces of art.

Cover shot the one on the right looks like the one I restored but my bumper was black. The only mod I made was 31 inch tires, Specter light bar for the roof for PIAA pencil beams and Bosch fog lamps for back up/camping lamps, it was already a twin tank FJ40, never got stuck, well engineered to begin with, just reassembly with new hardware and quality paint, and sealants goes a long way.

Being conscious of what the core of the brand is and the hard reality that to stay true it has a limited size that it must not cross/grow to, is very inspiring and extremely rare amongst business owners of any background. Extremely wise and most likely a great person to work for as the passion transpires and therefore inspires attention to details. The development process is well thought out, managing resources meticulously so as to avoid waste...because nobody wants to waste money or even worse...redo something because it doesn’t work ;)

The Question that remains for me, when you say take existing/old and make it better with modern parts is: CAN you make stuff better that lastet 50 years and is still valued and wanted? Pretty much all i agree with are better materials or rust protection...but technic wise? i don´t want a new powertrain with modern electronics...without any doubt those will never last additional 50 years.
