@@freewheelingideas What a crap, when I was born 1948, there was no R&R or whatever, long before 1965 the world was swinging. I don't know whats behind these fake facts you are forwarding here. Money?

Interesting little survey - but please note the singer of Downtown pronounced her first name Pe-TEW-la (emphasis on second syllable, not first).

This is when I came upon it all, as I had just gotten a transistor radio for Christmas, age 11. And so it began.

Great job! Minor quibble though, the My Fair Lady poster shown is from the Broadway and West End show with Julie Andrews. The movie starred Audrey Hepburn. Excellent Petula Clark info!

'60s and '70s have to be the absolute peak of styles and creativity. The vast range of genres and styles we went through is absolutely eye watering. Today we're trapped in limited styles dictated by the rap straight jacket, today's ineffectual and dull r&b and the boy/girl bands. The types of music written then will never be repeated (eg the prog rock stuff or punk or even post punk) and I wonder if folks will ever yearn for the likes of Bowie, The Clash or the creativity of any number of acts from back then. God help us if Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran is the height of creativity going forwards (when AI will do the writing for maximum commercial effect). Sorry to be so jaundiced.

@@briangraham1024 There's a few bits that I do take my hat off to (like who the hell am I ?) but it's just not a "play me again" thing. That says a lot.

I turned 5 years old in January 1965. By then Beatlemania had already hit Singapore (where I was born and still live) and my older brother had brought me to the cinema for A Hard Day’s Night. Music was always in the air - great music! Sandie Shaw, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, The Seekers, Georgie Fame …. the list goes on. Love these videos. Please keep them coming! Thanks!

On another note, I've always loved Petula Clark's "Downtown"! Sometimes when I'm in that section of my city, I find myself softly humming or singing the tune as I walk around window shopping. But, I gotta say that I find it pretty odd, the pronunciation of her name. I thought it was peh-TOO-la Clark not PET-u-la. I guess it's a Brit-thing. Kinda like how we American's say "SKEH-dule" (schedule), while they say "SHED-ule". 😅

These 60's videos are great. I was a teen age high school kid back then and remember it well. Shame it's deteriorated into the garbage that's out there now.

This was very entertaining. I love the music of that era. I finally made a trip to the U.K. several years ago and visited places like Carnaby St, Abbey Road, Bag O' Nails... A great trip! Ty for the vid. 👍
