As a long-standing activist, Cat Hope regards art and politics as inextricably linked, which is fundamentally reflected in the conception and positioning of her works.
Her music, characterised by aleatoric elements and a fascination for low frequencies, always reflects social issues. Through her choice of title, often inspired by current events or poetry, she lends her works a subtle political dimension.
Central to her work is her graphic and animated notation, which allows the performers more freedom in their playing. Through musical abstraction, such as the removal of tonality and pulse, space is created for the exploration of complex themes.
