@57:13 ...should'nt the SNR be directly proportional with square root of bandwidth, integration time product. This comes from the ideal radiometric equation that the RMS of the measured noise temperature (or the standard deviation) is inversely proportional to the square root of bandwidth time product. Hence, more bandwidth and integration time, smaller the standard deviation or the noise power (variance= square of standard deviation) will decrease increasing the SNR.

It was not entirely clear why the neutron stars had so much variability. The answer was "supermassive black hole". Again, it might have been better understood if he had explained that these were a binary system - that is - a SMBH paired to a neutron star. But it seemed to me to be the only correct understanding.
