The micro adjust is horrendous. Maybe having a huge gap is all that can be done on this style of bracelet, but as a fellow engineer I think you are letting Omega off the hook rather easily on this point. I like to see you give a detailed review on the microadjust.

That new extension is terrible! It leaves a big gap in between the links that looks atrocious!!! I wouldn’t take that bracelet if you gave me one for free. Pure laziness on Omega’s part. Definitely NOT the best of them!!!

Just to add, my old first generation 39mm was 11mm thick, had the same glossy dial, a much more tooly mix of matte and polished finishes, gorgeous date window.. to be fair, the bracelet let it down a little bit, but apart from that - for a watch that's still around £2700, I would be tempted..... I do like this new one very much though

totally agree on the fully polish part. The glossy black dial is shiny enough, can't Omega just give us a brushed utilitarian case for everyday use...

Kudos to Omega for finally giving us an adjustable clasp (takes them forever to catch up). I see this fully polished AT to be a competitor to a smooth bezel Datejust on an oyster. And the color dial ATs compete with the Stella dial OPs. But I don't see any ATs competing with an Explorer. BTW, the full polish is a deal breaker for me - I don't like polished bracelets, PCLs or fully polished cases. Too blingy, too dressy and they are all scratch magnets. Bring on the titanium ATs! Cheers to another great episode!

For me, an AT needs a teak dial. It elevates the watch through an “aspirational” narrative of enjoying it on one’s yacht. Omega also needs to innovate more as you mentioned. The 8800 and 8900 are amazing but becoming long in the tooth. The next leap is. Taking those movements, keeping the robustness, and increasing power reserve and making them thinner.

Exceptionally well done! I have two Aqua Terras - the "Skyfall" as it has been called, with the blue teak plank dial and then just a month ago I added the saffron Aqua Terra shades version. They are so alike yet so different, and both of them gets noticed by the enthusiast as well as the casual compliments from everyone else - NICE WATCH! The black dial is stunning, and I see your point in the area of "the next step" for Omega. Total fan boy here with 5 in all, but, your commentary is spot on. I don’t understand everyone’s obsession with watches needing to be brushed. The best part of these watches is there pretty well rounded u can get the beautiful polished shine but also the accents/durability of the brushed. Everyone hates on the buttery fly claps but it nice to have a watch with a different clasp system. I have three omegas aqua terra, Seamaster and speedmaster. I like each for different reason and because of their differences. To many people want everything to be the same and in the end nothing will have it’s own character or charm.

I see your point. But I think Omega still deserves criticism for being slow to react, or slow to understand how this watch should be a staple of this collection. It should be the constant. The color dials might come and go, but this watch should have always existed. So strange to me that they killed it off. When I look at this entire collection, past and present, it's the silver and black versions from more than a decade ago that make me want to spend my money on them

Great video! I think you are the first to review this watch. My first impression was "oh that looks really clean." Then I was impressed that they made it in three sizes. I like the colored dials, but 38mm is too small for me. So I'm glad they made it in 41 also. But most importantly, I am shocked that Omega finally had the restraint to make it in one dial color. Historically they bring out 478 colors on day one. Bringing it out in one color makes it more special and allows them to bring out a new color next year.

It used to be that when it came to altering watch designs, Rolex was steering the Titanic making slow gradual changes, while Omea was like following a drunk driver at 1 am and watching the weave all over the road. Likely to be in the 36-38mm range. My issue with modern omega is pretty much the simple price complaint.. for me at the moment the sweet spot is watches around £1000-2500 mark. I kind of feel wrong wearing anything more fancy or expensive if I'm too treat it as a daily As somebody said "find a watch that you wear, and one that doesn't wear YOU" so a watch that I'll be constantly worried about, and always aware of, will wear me.. I prefer a balance of tool / versatility / stress free So yes... I'm not sure about omega these days man I hope you're well

We also have to remember when Sir George Daniels went shopping for a suitor to his Co-axial escapement with the likes of Patek and Rolex; both companies turned him down. George Daniels posthumously was given the title “Greatest Inventor in 250 years of Watchmaking”!

Rolex is more style over substance. Ever worn a modern Rolex submariner? Glidelock is effing terrible how you can get a thumb under the back of it and then the whole thing slips out to full expansion. Terrible design. But it allows the bracelet to fit in with the design of EasyLink clasps. Style over substance. Also the coaxal is 3.5hz instead of 4hz. Even though coaxial is more rugged and requires less servicing than swiss lever escapement, Rolex wanted people to see the smoother sweep of 4Hz vs coaxial 3.5hz. Again - style over substance.

And this only gets worse as you actually wear the watch and cover every surface with hairline scratches

Great video and agree all the innovations! My problem (and it is MY problem, not necessarily THE problem) is that a 38mm Ti black dial AQ with telescoping crown and colour matched date at 6 is a Christopher Ward C63 Elite with a £££$$$ markup, and they risk "doing a Bremont". The CW is not METAS but it is COSC and offers all the above (3 piece clasp not butterfly) for 1200GBP approx. In my opinion their best GADA watch. Well done CW for designing the 2026 Blaqua Terra, several years ahead of Omega. 🎉

I think that the Teak variants are more unique relative to the Shades collection. Quite frankly I am a fan of a watch having its own design motif - the shark tooth indices coupled with the teak dial is iconic. When Omega transitioned to the Shades collection, to me it came across as too similar to an Oyster Perpetual. Rather than shifting its dial design, I would prefer that Omega released the AT in an updated 38/39 and 40/41 case with a thinner movement leading to a case height in the 11-12.5mm range. As for the bracelet, it should be given a proper clasp - I'm sure Swatch group has the capital given its Moonswatch success to invest in a new bracelet. In short, while nice, the new 38 ATs have lost their originality. Whether it is vertical or horizontal, to me the Teak motif was and is the AT's identity, and shifting away from that is ultimately a mistake.

Who needs the other 100 AT models now? Heck, there are almost more ATs than Rolex total catalogue. If they dump all the others, Omega will finally be on the right track. Quick adjust looks a bit cheap with the big gap it creates.

Love your channel and have been a fan since the beginning. Normally, I’m 100% on board with your design suggestions, but this time, I couldn’t disagree more. Keep up the great work! Cheers! PS. Once again, great video and very good analysis, despite my point of view and design preferences.

Would love to see a Ti blackaterra with the telescopic crown! Great design idea!

for years i did not consider the aqua terra due to the non-adjusting butterfly clasp. they finally did it, which is great, but i'm off to something simpler, a simple three-hander at 34mm.

The simple “time only’s” have a special place, also a big fan of smaller pieces and how brands tighten up the dials 🔥

I have a 2008 Aqua Terra with a black gloss dial. It is baffling that it went away for a such a while

Disagree here on the full polish. Just as it should be, versatile. Would hope for a Railmaster version like the older Aqua Terra.

Love the dial choice and new style bracelet but agree on why the need for an all polished case. Plus that micro adjust is horrible. It leaves a gap between the links that looks like a $50 watch. As a design guy I’m stunned to hear you say it’s brilliant!! 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ It’s a huge miss for them. Credit for trying but they missed badly where they could have put some effort into it. Who on that team looked at this and said “yes, this is it”? Also I don’t see this as competing with the Explorer, but more with the DateJust. Just when I thought I’d buy one, I’ll wait…again!

Also completely agree on the polished case. That’s gonna be an instant scratch magnet. But the one great advantage of the aqua Terra over the explorer is the date. How Rolex can make an explorer without a date and be successful is quite astonishing. A true explorer needs a date, if he’s out there, to keep proper track of time. And without a cyclops.

I like it, very much, yes very, very much❤️. I have to say, I prefer a matt black dial. Provides better contrast with white hands.

I own 5 Omegas, but not the Aqua Terra. First, the assymetric hands. Either put the arrow head on both hands or remove it entirely. The second problem is the pastel colors. I prefer the bolder colors like Rolex or the Citizen Tsuyosa dials. If Omega would make a green dial in 40/41 MM, I would ignore the mono arrow hand and buy it.

Sorry but the broad arrow minute hand looks lopsided next to the truncated hour hand. The PO 2500 achieved a nice balance of the hour and minutes hands with different size broad arrows. Move the broad arrow back on the AT’s hour hand and then it will be a winner for me.

Regarding innovation: why innovate? Rolex proves that it doesn’t come down to innovation, but clout and recognition. Why spend money on innovation if nobody is gonna buy your product? I also found that telescopic crown weird.

I think it’s a great looking watch, why it took so long to get here, might just be my first Omega ❤

Unpopular Opinion Inbound - first off I'm glad you're smitten with it sincerely. I'm not. Reasons: case is too thick (thicc?), vastly dislike the "muffin" crown (I own the latest Railmaster and besides the too thick case on that watch as well I detest the crown ~ same as the AT ~ muffin: difficult to adjust on a tactile level, and I have thin boney fingers no less) and lastly, and sadly also on my Railmaster even though I immediately binned it for an Uncle Seiko bracelet, the dreaded butterfly clasp: polar opposite of user friendly/intuitive/and "tool watch" vibes. It's too formal. And don't even get me started on the broad arrow minute hand (vs it classically being on the hour hand)! Also, I truly believe the AT is *not* Omega going after the Rolex Explorer but in fact going after the DateJust... and not just for the obvious date complication reasons. Again, if it's on your radar I am happy for you but I find far more to dislike about the watch than the opposite ~ the dial is very nice though. Cheers.

Very well said Scott and I understand all your reservations (especially the muffin crown) Maybe that’s why I’d want to hide it altogether? 🤣🥃

I have the AT day date calibre 8602 with 18k hands and indices, just love it,so i agree, and think its a great alternative to a date just if not better.

Omega didnt cut corners on the movement for the smallest size in the AT line...unlike PP or other high horology manufacturers who tuck quartz into their smaller sports models...bravo Omega! The AT is a superb dressy sports watch now in 34mm as well as the larger sizes (38/41). This dial and framed date window are perfectly balanced.
@jaysterling264 ай бұрын
If only they had kept the indices and date frame the same as the other models plus as aforementioned - less polish; more brush. Another 34mm watch is in the crosshairs. Still, I hope other brands borrow the butterfly clasp extensions ( I think CW have already started on their skeleton 12 ).

I think dress watch when I see this, I t’s interesting that it has an adjustable clasp but when omega describes it as a comfort setting I’m imagining something that will be lacking adjustability. People seem to like buying shiny watches so it looks like that’s what will continue to be made but I love the idea of a titanium version with a good clasp. I
@fahadkhan-db6bh4 ай бұрын
My God that full titanium render❤️ But I’d remove the polish from the bracelet center links and put some on the case instead, like the World Timer AT, and maybe a power reserve indicator at the back🤔. Also like 35k less, thanks Omega😊

2:38 The date window on the 38mm sits too high compared to the 41mm version and it really, really bothers me. It utterly ruins the 38mm for me.

Imo the iwc mark series are much better competitors for a gada and explorer alternative.

And speaking of which, I've been seriously considering getting one in for that reason. Something about how it meets so much of what we like as a far more utility oriented piece (with some great dials added in the mix) 🔥

I own an AT Teak Dial in 41 mm and it‘s my favorite watch in my collection although it‘s not the most expensive one by far. I’d buy this watch immediately if I hadn’t bought it yet - maybe even in this new monochrome version. Because its look is so brilliant and excellent. It doesn’t need any innovation (unless the new quick adjustment, which I appreciate a lot, but which I honestly did not miss yet due to the comfortable wear of the former bracelet). In my view the comparison of the AT to the Rolex Explorer isn‘t quite accurate. The explorer is an elegant field watch, the AT an elegant sport watch. Its elegance is more comparable to the Datejust on an oyster bracelet. And although the DJ is one of the most iconic watches at all I prefer the AT.
