It is a testament to yourself how these videos hold up so well over time!! Well done. For a period of time I've owned both the SKX007 and The Turtle PADI. Having the Turtle PADI, I eventually sold my SKX as it's shortcomings were always being overshadowed by the execution of the Turtle PADI. I replaced the bracelet with a Crafter Blue rubber strap that matches the dial color and has an integrated fit to the turtle.

I am wearing my PADI Turtle as I watch. I choose to get it over the SKX as my first Seiko for all the reasons you mentioned and I love the Turtle. Everytime I put it on I am reminded how much I love it - and it competes with much more expensive watches in my collection. Fantastic review thank you :)

I’m really liking this ‘turtle’ shaped case. It reminds me of the Doxa Subs of which I am so fond. The blue dial colour is also a really nice shade like you say. The orange minute hand although orange doesn’t have the amazing impact of say a PLOprof or Doxa Sub minute hand and is..... well, simply Seiko! It would be interesting to see Seiko bring a fresh look to the hand design of their dive watches. Talking of the Doxa Sub, that would make a great video for the future! Great work yet again my friend! ✊

Thomas Burnett interesting...I have this model of Turtle and a genuine vintage Doxa Searambler too! It was my father’s and still functions. At least for a short period as it’s never been serviced I believe. Something I really want to do someday but can’t currently afford to.

I have this PADI Turtle and absolutely love it…I honestly can’t fault it and wear it constantly. The blue is stunning in all light conditions and it looks epic with a blue nato strap or shark mesh bracelet. Got to love Seiko divers.

I adore my 777 (black dial & bezel) Turtle. It was really hard to choose between mine and the PADI, but the way the matte black dial contrasts with the lume and polished hands was perfection. I also like black because its accurate to the classic 6309, and is more versatile for wearing everyday. But any Turtle is a good choice. Turtles also have a large modding community like the SKX. Im getting ready to order a top-hat sapphire crystal and a lumed sapphire bezel insert.

Morgan Frazer I'm not saying the skx is a bad watch, the Turtle really is a step up- much better made, more accurate, more comfortable on wrist, hacks & hand winds & subjectively better looking. My skx feels flimsy & cheap in comparison. I was a big fan of the skx until I got my turtle, & still think they're great watches. Enjoy it 👍

Great video, IDGuy. I personally own the Save the Ocean Turtle, Which has a gunmetal PVD-coated crown and bezel, gradient blue wave dial, and bi-tone blue bezel insert. I love the way the watch wears on my 6.6 inch wrists. If I could turn the clock back, I would have skipped the SKX and gone straight for the Padi Turtle. Since my SKX009 was my first automatic and has a place in my heart, however, I simply cannot get rid of it.

6:52 I own two divers at the moment, one with day&date the other without these complication. I can tell you that I miss the date the most. I guess the only reason for complain is the aesthetics, but the date is quite usefull and not at all out of place.

I use a super engineer II strapcode and man is it heavy. 126grams vs your 3d Oyster at 97grams.. Wish I had bought yours.

Another well-produced video mate, kudos. For me, the 45mm size is too large, thus have enjoyed the 009 and now the 013 (another non-Seiko diver in between). The 20mm lug width on the 013 makes it more efficient re strap changes w/my other watches, also 20mmlug widths. Cheers ⌚👍

Keep away from the mini turtle, there's about 7 different versions right now including 2 Thailand specific LE. I love the size of the mini and lug to lug wears very comfortable

Havent worn my tag or oris since i got my batman. However i upgraded the bezel to a coin edge, upgraded the bezel insert to a lumed ceramic and upgraded the bracelet to a super engineer. Fantastic watch.

You make phenomenal videos, my friend. Fantastic insights and synopsis on this watch. You actually make me want to get a Seiko Turtle at some point. However, the bone I have to pick with it is the visual "noise". I like brash detail, don't get me wrong - the Seiko Flightmaster, for instance, is just pure art. The red 5-min intervals here on this watch clash because of the overuse of red; and i think that's the detail that took it too far for me. Nonetheless, as far as utility goes, I'm sure this watch is ready for war. And now, I may very well get the PADI Samurai. Great work, as always!

That’s my watch! I’m wearing it while watching this video. And I’m very fond of it. I think aesthetically it’s almost perfect for what it is. My gripes...the bezel action is blunt and not satisfying to use as well as being hard to grip too with its blunt slippery knurling. It’s accuracy is not great either, it loses about a minute every couple of days, even though that seems to be improving somehow. And finally a fault that I fear is unique to my particular watch...even from new, it doesn’t hack! Which is still a mystery to me. Another little thing, my one is not a Made In Japan version.

Amazing watch, they look large but wear a lot smaller. The only issue I have with the PADI is the red 5 minute markers, they catch my eye too much and contrast too highly (granted that's probably their intention, but I don't like it). I have an SRP777 and other watches fight to get wrist time. I have a 6309-7040 and a 7002 and neither get a look in, I love the 6309 and it's provenance but the reliability and ruggedness of the 777 while looking smart with a pop of gold is amazing. I usually wear 40mm pieces but this is great. Highly, highly recommended and great video as per usual.

Ok so,new subscriber. First Seiko video I've come across on your channel, nice watch, but the price, in my opinion,is ridiculous but, be that as it may, i need a bezel for my 1984 turtle. They no longer make it. Or,they make the watch, but the bezel is 1 mm smaller. I realize it's been nearly 40 years, but if you plan on buying this watch, as a young man,use it,and loose that bezel, doing what it was made for "scuba diving ", be nice to know they'll have a replacement. Buy an Omega. Take care of it,and you've, in my opinion, made a more sensible choice.

I ended up getting both. The Turtle is getting worn a lot more. The classic style of the case, colour scheme and the better date display make me prefer it. The stock metal strap on both isnt good so be ready to add a strap code one to the budget.

Putting the word PADI on the bezzel is detrimental for the PADI institution. First thing that comes to my head is how much money in terms of commission PADI gets. Secondly the awful reputation that this watch already has from real world owners complaining that the time is vastly inaccurate. I love this watch aesthetically but the reviews that I read EVERYWHERE from people complaining on the lack of time accuaracy is what prevented me from getting one already. That plus the short live 41 hours of power reserve makes this watch not much appealing. At least the Solar PADI gets you 10 months of power reserve. Just my .2c

if we just want a cushion case and pepsi look and enhance SKX looks , this will be the one, but for those who dislike pepsi look and cushion case shape. i would recommend as SKX upgrade to be seiko Monster Gen 2 or 3 and/ or Seiko Samurai.

Sadly, the SKX is not that great, it’s dail and case design are really good, maybe “great” as you would suggest, but it is quite poorly made, disgraceful bracelet and bezel finish, QC issues here and there, hardlex, outdated inaccurate low tolerance movement, and become pricier by the day; it’s gray market price at the moment is 200-230$ , which is just plain overpriced. ISO certification has been granted to Chinese microbrands, and that too if anyone needs it or will notice a difference otherwise. I love Seiko, love the history, I love the lume, I own them, I buy them, but the SKX is a bad watch that is so hyped. Have fun if you have one, but don’t try to justify it’s imperfections.

I own a couple but one has a misaligned chapter ring so I can’t put it on my wrist without a subtle feeling of disgust... neither can I sell it to some poor unsuspecting soul who might not notice... pure evil Seiko. I won’t buy another until they fix their QC, it’s stock sapphire and a better movement.
