A truly “one-of-a-kind” film…it’s well-written, superbly acted by these wonderful actors and the moral and social issues at the time were magnificently conveyed by everyone involved in the making of this unique love story. Great job by Ms. Lupino as the director of this movie. It’s a crying shame that the current movie industry does not make movies like this one anymore. I thoroughly enjoyed it - LOVE IT!

I cried at the end and the words of the judge was so touching . Even though I come from a culture and religion that allows marrying to more than one woman yet the majority of us now ( men / women ) don’t accept the idea especially in decent respectable levels . ( note what the judge said at the end that “ these are two decent women and you Mr. Harry are a decent man “ …😢

I love the ambiguous ending! It could have become a shmaltzy cheesefest with him choosing one over the other to go back to (that's if they wanted him still). This ending actually elevated the film into a what if,will he,will she?I felt that, like the original film of 'The Wicker Man',the title should have been different so as to keep us guessing as to what was going to happen in it!🤭The title kind of spoilt everything!I'm glad Ida left everything up in the air,and didn't go down the much easier route of making the audience's minds up for them. Thanks for posting,am loving these colourized versions!👍👍👍🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️🐊🐊🐊

These things happen. All you need to make it happen is two woman with strong personalities (Lupino and Fontaine) and a weak male character. He is not able to dissapoint them and make them suffer. He needs to keep on being important for both. Weakness, cowardice, loneliness make that happen. Guilt doesnt help either.
