Great video and great breakdown. You nailed it...BUT...I sure wish you'd included Beware, My Lovely in at least the Honorable Mention category. I think that is a very underrated movie. Ida stepped in to pinch-hit direct when director Harry Horner was absent (due to family tragedy). She had a LOT of heavy lifting to do to carry this film, as she and Robert Ryan (in one of his best performances) are in virtually every scene, in one location. It's a stellar piece of acting by Lupino, who really captures the fear of the character. Regardless, thanks for sharing this video, and I hope it introduces more people to arguably the most accomplished woman in 20th century filmmaking...or should I say Filmaking?

Excellent video about one of the neglected all-time great talents of acting and filmmaking! I’ve seen virtually all of Ida Lupino’s films myself and my top 10 list would be quite similar to yours (albeit rather different ordering) -which is interesting because she has far more than 10 excellent performances to choose from. I would put “Ladies in Retirement” at the top, with “Road House” and “Moontide” not far behind. “Deep Valley” would be in my next tier, and that may be our biggest disagreement since you didn’t mention it. Virtually everything she did in films between 1939 and 1956 is well worth watching and wouldn’t be out of place on such a list. Thanks for putting this together!

Bravo to you - and Brava to Ida. A splendidly presented biography of one of the film world's great pioneers.

To the person who put this documentary together, me saying thank you is woefully inadequate. Would that I could make it rain thousands of "thank yous." So much I never knew, that, if not for this documentary, I would still be in the dark. However , I'm pleased to know that she was involved in my favorite TV shows from my youth. I would love to have a library of all of her movies. Pardon me if I'm gushing, but for IDA LUPINO it comes naturally. Wish I could have met her. ❤️

Nobody could beat her at playing hard core women.!!!! Excellent actress. I would go so far as to say, that she made George Raft, Humphrey Bogart etc. appear as delinquent choirboys.!!!!

In Pillow to Post ,Ida Lupino has the funniest scene where she gradually gets drunk and then flirty with her co-star. The movie is worth watching for that scene alone.

Certainly deserving of AA recognition, both in acting and directing. But she's in great company -- AH never received one either....

Honestly thought Raft should have gone with the sociopath Lupino and not "goody two shoes" Sheridan, but I'm 100% biased in favor of Ida Lupino, my favorite actress of that era. Not only was she herself underrated as an actress and director, but so were her movies. She was as good an actress as Bette Davis and twice as beautiful, it's a shame we'll never know how truly great she could have been if Warner's wasn't so obsessed with offering all the best roles to Davis. As for my own list, High Sierra is #1. Never rooted for the villain and his moll to get away with it so hard in all my life. One omission though in the Directing category, she actually took over for Nicholas Ray when he fell ill and directed numerous scenes for "On Dangerous Ground" and has now rightfully been given co-directing credit for the film.
