Chris... you are an inspiration to me. I started my own company 4yrs ago, and you have helped me to improve so many things. You truly are an entrepreneur of the painting game. I have learned more from you, then trialing them, than anyone ever taught me. I kind of fell into painting without training, and I'm self taught. I never had a teacher. You guys have helped me to reach new a plato every single day, week, and year. I cant thank you enough for inspiring the myself and the painting world. You truly live the life #paintlife. I still have a long way to go, and I hope 1 day I will get to meet yourself, to thank you personally.

I have two bachelors degrees and own my own painting business so it’s nice to be in good company with John. August 4th will be four years in business for myself and I will be hiring my first official employee very soon. It’s actually a retired gentleman who’s house I painted not too long ago. He’s bored in retirement and wants to try painting. Like you said he has the work ethic, character, and motivation but not necessarily the experience which is perfect. Great video guys.

I've painted for many years. I was never asked for license or insurance. I realized that if I got licensed and insurance, I could bid higher and bid with confidence. I also purchased a bid packet from Chris. I have never lost a bid since I've done these things and I'm making more money.

Thank you for the Hebrews 4:15 tag. "For we do not have a high priest who can not sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin." We have the One almighty who yet humbled Himself to be tested in all the ways we are tested and tried. He remained blameless and steadfast without sin and stands as an example to encourage us while he is also there beside us to encourage us daily. Thank you for your encouragement and help as well brother. God bless

On the aspect of spitting out numbers in the video I totally agree, one other thing I see from giving ballpark figures and just giving a price outright is the customer always goes back to “well you said it’ll be this much...” and your stuck working for less on a job that you didn’t take the time to think over before writing up a bid 👍 keep this in mind guys when bidding happens all the time

Yes boys 👍, Trust is the key and whole explanation of the process to buy and reassure customer that you will provide the service they expect and get back to you when needed again , then the rest will just follow - after good impression you know that this customer will go ahead with your services and it is also how you present your self and business and first impression how you meet your new customer. Good luck to all new starters.

everything you do and buy that is used for business is a write off. I need a few plumbing pieces for a fix at my house. I go to home depot and get them and then buy a pack of roller sleeves. I saves me a trip for roller sleeves and I write of the trip to home depot. I get a brake job done on my vehicle which is my personal vehicle as well and lets just say i put 100000 kms on it over the yr and 20k was personal. 4/5ths of the brake job is a write off. Just remeber you are only getting the tax portion of the cost. To many think you will get the whole cost back.

Alot to digest ..Because I use the KISS method. I get 95 percent of all my bids, and don't use any of these steps. KISS...means Keep It Simple Stupid. Mostly because all my jobs are by referral. And I keep my wife out of all my business.

I've run my licensed painting business since 2007 and always had rough time with hiring good people, either they were flakes or wanting twenty dollars a hour after two weeks of learning how to paint. At a certain point the economy was tanking around 2009 and had to refigure my business and I just became the kitchen guy, painting old cabinets and making them new (which took off). I've painted on my own since then unfortunately and now with having spinal surgery and other health issues I've slowed down to where I need help. Maybe I should move out of Los Angles to Idaho and John could hire this broken down 44 year old.
