DJI Mini 3 at the Snake River Canyon with Special Guest Ted Bohlman

The DJI Mini 3 is an extraordinarily capable sub 250g Mini Drone. Yes, the feature set is not as extensive as the Mini Pro drones, but the camera and flight controls are amazing! This was a nice fall blue sky day at the Snake River Canyon. Ted Bohlman and I spent a couple hours at the edge of canyon enjoying our drones.

Hi Marcus. Another great day out at the canyon. I want to make it back there again sometime. Had the Mavic 3 out 2 days in a row. Went through 2 batteries each trip which is all I have for it. Then I had another first. Had to get LAANC approval for Class D space. Went pretty smooth...........👍

Hi Marcus. Great flight with the trusty mini 3. At 7:02, center frame, there looked like a broken down building was there that would be interesting to take a close look at. The same thing at 7:13, slightly right of center at the bottom of the screen. I saw it when you were raising the camera up and wondered what it was. Maybe on your next snake river run, youo can get a close up of it to see exactly what it is/was. Great work and keep the videos coming. BTW, hello to Ted Bohlman.

Good flight Marcus and good to see Ted out there flying too. The mini sure handles itself great. I'm in full Mini mode these days as I just picked up the Mini 4 Pro a couple of days ago and flew it today and boy is it ever a great little drone. I have the Mini 3 Pro and Mini 2 also. I'll fly the Air 2s when chasing some boats this winter in Florida but the Mini 4 Pro might also do a good job at it.

The mini 3 is one of the best drones for flight time. I use the intelligent battery plus and I get 45-46 minutes of flight time with the mini 3 standard. I can use the exact same battery with the mini 3 pro and get about 36 minutes. 10 minutes longer with the mini 3 standard. I guess those obstacle avoidance sensors really use the extra power. Today I used active tracking for the first time on my mini 4 pro. Unfortunately it crashed. But luckily it only damaged a couple propellers. Which I replaced immediately after getting home. I’m am uploading the video now to my channel. I have tested both mini 4 pro and Air 3 in the last week or so and I have came to the conclusion that DJI desperately needs to send out a firmware update. Thus far I am not impressed with the new obstacle avoidance with the mini 4 pro and air 3. But that’s pretty typical for newer Models with DJI sometimes it takes a while to get all the bugs out with firmware updates. Any updates on your Air 3? I am assuming by now you have sent it back to DJI and are awaiting for the replacement.

A friend of mine and myself are going to the Snake River to fly our mini 4 and Mavic 3 pro. We are thinking about going at the end of May beginning of June 2024. 24:43 Is that a good weather time for the Snake River. I watch alot of your videos and I know you enjoy flying there. What part of the Snake River do you start at/ park your vehicle etc.

No, the Mini 3 only has downward sensors. The Mini 3 Pro has front facing OA though.

Good day sir! New subscriber and new drone owner here! So new in fact that I have not picked it up from Best Buy yet! I ordered the DJI Mini 2 SE, but am curious if the Mini 3 is worth the extra $140.00. I see that both offer 30 minutes of flight time, and neither offer collision avoidance. Is the only difference is that the mini 3 offers 4k recording? Please guide me in the right direction, I’m not planning on using for anything professional. I can swap out my purchase if I can be convinced it’s a better deal. Edit: if this Mini 3 has the active tracking, I’m sold!

Thank you! The Mini 3 Pro has ActiveTrack, the Mini 3 does not. The Mini 3 is far superior to the Mini 2 SE, and if you can afford it buy it. 👍
