DJI Mini SE - It's still a great little drone!

The Mini SE is a very capable drone still, my first dji drone I bought and still have it. Haven't flown it in a while, but might need to "get that bird in the air" soon. I couldn't believe the kids on the pond ice, a couple of them were even jumping up and down, thought for sure you'd get one breaking through the ice. The SE flies very good, it's just that we get spoiled with the newer drones that we really don't need to worry about the signal, thanks to Occusync. Great video and I have my se batteries charging now!

I absolutely love my DJI Mini SE. It really does fly like a dream and works with all of the 3rd party apps that are out there. I have about 90 flights of a new FedEx ground facility on my KZbin channel, all flown with the Mini SE except for one. Once it opens, likely later this year, it will be the largest FedEx facility on the planet. I did have to send my Mini SE in to DJI for a gimbal motor repair. The gimbal would vibrate like mad when the drone was powered on and not even in flight. DJI care took care of the repair at no cost to me. 👍

So, I brought a Mini SE from Ebay for £150. Worth every penny. As you say, super compact. My wife has made me a nifty sling bag which has made it easy to carry anywhere.😊 Your video have really helped with understanding the relative capabilities of this old timer.

An excellent entry or intermediate drone for any hobbyist not wanting to spend a lot of money. Another benefit of the Mini 1 and SE is they use Li-ion batteries instead of the later Li-po batteries. Li-ion can be left in the fully charged condition indefinitely whereas the Li-po batteries self discharge to the 50-60% charge to protect itself for long-term storage. Fun fact: Mini 1 batteries can be used in Mini 2 drones but not the other way around.

@@IdahoQuadcopter the Mini SE uses the same lipos as the Mini 2, not the li-ions used in the original mini. The batteries and charging hub have a smart self discharging feature. I maily fly fpv but I did use my mini se recently to locate my 5" stuck on top of a bando. Finally got it down a month and a half later hahaha. Great little drone for uses like that. Camera and video at 2.7k not so much. My understanding is that the mini se uses the same motors, battery, and esc as the mini2 but lacks 4k and occusync. Otherwise flight stats are very similar. Thanks Marcus - This was my first drone and i'd still be flying it if not not for that dang tree that grabbed it last winter. It has all of the advantages of a DJI drone with very few disadvantages. And those kids on the ice 🥶

Love the MINI SE! It was my first drone, and I bought an extra battery, ND filters, signal boosters and Litchi later on. Litchi really expands it's capabilities to do waypoint missions. I've been able to create decent orthos and 3D models. Not amazing models like other DJI drones can produce but it's a good point of entry for pilots looking to practice basic mapping until you're ready to buy a Mavic or Air series 👍 Also, if you get Litchi, you can perform AEB photography to get HDR imaging in post production!

Got one in May of 2022. Took it with us to visit family in Ontario, Canada. (Limerick Lake). Just wish it captured Raw images instead of Jpegs, wasn’t a Wi-Fi drone and had the standard DJI controller. Recommend getting the newer Mini 2 SE.

Nice flight with the Mini SE that showed some of its benefits, along with its weakness' as well. You could have really used digital zoom when you checking out the In & Out and kids walking on the thin ice. As far as the controlleer, I know it's all a matter of personal taste, but that was my least favorite controller DJI ever made. The Mini 2 with the DJI RC-N1 controller would still fit comfortably in the case that came with the Fly More combo and that was compact enough for me. Great video Marcus, and thanks for sharing.

I've seen on eBay that they sell refurbished and used DJI Mini 2 SE drones at a reduced price. Should I stay away from them or all used Mini 2 SE drones in general?

I've never seen that one you're referring to, for sale. Nor did I ever know that there was one called the Mini SE. But I have seen the Mini 2, the Mini 2 SE n the Mavic Mini for sale on Amazon
