As an iOS app developer, I wholeheartedly recommend you to close your app every now and then. Not because it can help speeding up your phone or something, but rather it helps to reduce the problems and errors you might run into. Starting an app from scratch runs a different set of steps than returning from background as well as clearing out a lot of "saved stuff". And more often than not, the developers will pay more attention to starting from scratch than from background. That's why there is the famous line: "Hello IT, have you tried turning it off and on again?"

There's a simple and practical reason to close applications when you no longer need them; it prevents the multitasking carousel from getting cluttered up and having to swipe through dozens of apps.

I agree, and I know some of them use battery life when running in the background, specially apps like Instagram. And swiping closing them when finish doesnt take that much battery unless you have an app you use a lot.

A phenomenal feature I just discovered is Guided Access. I have an 18 month old who loves Frozen. Problem is she can’t help touching the screen on long car trips which inevitably takes her off the movie and she cries. Guided access essentially disables the screen, sound buttons, and lock button so that she can’t ruin her own day
@nasseralsharif11 ай бұрын
And it's also a privacy feature, when you have to handle your iPhone to someone that you have trust issues with him. Just lock the app that he needs, and rest assured. I learned this trick from EverythingApplePro yt channel back in the day

As many others on here, I think closing apps is really useful. They often use data in the background and stay active in the background too, using a small bit of CPU power. So closing them once per day is pretty useful. But not after every use, sure, that’s overkill.

iOS dev here. Backgrounded apps absolutely run tasks in the background (depending on the app). Also, starting an app from the background vs starting anew runs completely different functions in the App Delegate and Scene delegate files. A lot of house keeping is often contained in these functions and leaving your apps open all the time can cause issues.

great video as always, just a thought : at 4:30 i wouldn't suggest to anyone to remove the case when it's hot, especially if they are out, that would put them at high risk of the phone slipping and that would be a bigger problem IMO 😢. at 6:00 upgrading the camera to 4k 60 is good if you're watching your content on tv or screen that supports 4k. unfortunately i found out that most people tend to watch their videos on phones which doesn't support 4k. so imo i think 1080p 60 is the way to go to save space. thanks as always.😊

biggest tips from this video i found were battery overheating and restarting your phone, lotta people don't realize these things damage the phone more than anything else (maybe aside from dropping it lol) i used a cheap non certified cable with my 11 and after 3 years the battery health was at 71%, felt like i was constantly at 20% battery all day. and also restarting computers in general, some work computers and phones don't get reset for months and months my old job would call in a tech just to restart the computers so the registers wouldn't be so slow lol eventually i just told them how to fix it themselves and they would get mad at me for making them do more work because they took like 10 min to turn on.

The multitask view may be functional for saving battery (which is probably a negligible savings anyway), but it looks like a cluttered mess, and it’s also invasive - I don’t want a visual history of the last 30 things I’ve done on my phone. Furthermore, Apple should have a “close all” function for the multitask view. My phone cost $1200. If I want to waste my battery however I see fit, I think that should be my business.

So I think the Hey Siri pause is to make sure she hears you. A lot of times when you have spotty internet or multiple devices it disable one for the other. For example if you have multiple home pods, iPhone, Apple Watch and laptop. They will all hear you based on your connection & distance but only one device will respond. This way you don’t have multiple devices responding all at one time. Siri is disabled on devices thats further away. I can also say Hey siri in front of my iPhone and Apple Watch but home pods get higher priority.

Interesting video, but somewhat contradictory. If you give an app access to your location "While Using App" and then leave that app running in the background (as suggested in tip #1) then that app will constantly track your location, as long as it is running in the background. Do that with 4, 5 plus apps and it will deplete your battery much faster than closing all those apps and reopening when needed. Not too mention, do you really want Twitter, FB, etc... tracking your movements 24/7?
