well, isn't she just delightful! Its great to see someone ACTUALLY learning along with me, rather than being a prop for the Instructor.

Garrett, as a father of seven, 4 of them being girls, I love seeing the next generation, and especially young women, get excited about technologies and skills traditionally reserved for "old guys." As a professional [corporate] instructor and a father in general, I can say without reservation that you did a great job of explaining the concepts to Liberty. She clearly gets it as evident in her "almighty home" analogy and in how each WSO is a room within the CNC's known world - an analogy I will be using this week with my daughter and son-in-law as they start their first projects. Please let Liberty know for me that she's doing a great job and that I 100% endorse seeing more content just like this if not a dedicated playlist. Besides the fact that this type of content simply needs to exist in the world, its educational value is very much needed and appreciated. You have without a doubt earned my respect and repeat business.

Great video, this is the first video I’ve seen that talks about G54-G59 offsets. I’ve been a machinist for 42 years, the last 15 years as a CNC programmer. I’m looking at getting a CNC router to play with and was curious if they are programmed the same as a CNC mill. You know your stuff. Thank you for your videos.

Great job you two! Yes Liberty you should be on more often. Limit switches are very handy, so you don't crash the machine into the hard stops, and make the motors grumble 😄

WOW, Liberty is rockin it. I understand what the limit sensors are for. However, I finally understand how to set G54 , G55.... I heard about it but didn't get it until now. This is going to make my CNC journey so much better. Thanks for the video. ❤

Once I home I also take a measurement of both sides to make sure they are the same. The right side will need to be turned at times. For me to have a reference once I have measured both sides I make a very tight line mark with a sharpie on the right rail. Once I home I check to be sure the machine is squared. I hope I explained that well enough.

What I need to know is prior to the settings you are describing.. I am using Proximity Sensors (PS) on the XH- , x+, YH-, y+, Y slave , Z+. My question is how close to the positive stop should I move the router to? And then slowly move the PS until it is activated. Is this the correct way to establish the Homing and Limit switches? I use the Y- left and right steppers to square the gantry, will I still be able to do this if I set the switches as I described above? I have watched so many YT’s and they do not describe this procedure, they all assume its already done, and you cannot go further until they have been setup properly. Thanks
@IDCWoodcraft2 ай бұрын
IH1940HAY, It sounds like you're on the right track with your homing and limit switch setup! Yes, you want to move the router as close to the positive stop as possible and then slowly adjust the proximity sensor until it activates. This will ensure that the homing process is accurate. If you're using the Y- steppers to square the gantry, you should still be able to do that after setting up the switches as you've described. Just make sure all your movements are well-coordinated to avoid any collisions.

@IDCWoodcraft14 күн бұрын
KevinHudson-d4h, It sounds like you're facing some connectivity issues with your controllers. Make sure that all your connections are secure and that the correct drivers for your machine are installed. Also, check if gSender recognizes the machine in its settings. Sometimes, a simple restart of the software or the computer can reset the connection as well. Good luck!

Hey Garrett, perfect subject for me. I also use gSender. When enabling limit switches and homing in my firmware, I constantly get alarms (no idea what they mean….yet…..yes, I’ve just downloaded the alarm sheet you posted, Thanks) So, I’ve been homing my machine, than going back into firmware and disabling homing and hard limits to avoid the alarm. So, first question, what are your ideas on how to fix my alarm problem? And second, do I actually lose my “home” position after setting home and than disabling homing and hard limits in Firmware?

Hello Garrett. I purchased a Longmill (30x30) over a year ago. It didn't come with homing switches. Does Scienci offer them as an add-on? I'm hoping you will know. I ordered a spindle based on your video on Spindles. I am so looking forward to installing it when I get it and using it. THese homing switches are so needed. Thanks for you reply

My limit switches identified an out of alignment problem. So I realigned the cnc, thought that was strange. Then proceeded to destroy the next commisioned project. The left drive belt (which is a maintenance item) needed to be replaced. So - If I had listened to my limit switches, it would have saved me the embarrassing task of having to ask the customer to send me another set of plexiglass.
