Nice, Fun4RC just pointed you out to me, been playing with Ideamaker and doing a few vids for it. nice job! one thing I did notice, right in the 1st tab (layers) of the advanced section, you don't have "print shells in optimum order" checked.. that can save you a BUNCH of time often also..

What about for tabletop minis? Would you want fill gap turnes on or off as well as the other option? Thanks for a great vid
@fischer3d4 жыл бұрын
Honestly it all depends on the model and, for minis, what size nozzle you're using. If leaving off gap fill removes small features in the mini, probably want to leave it on. For retraction inside models, I'm still a proponent of leaving that checked.

Good trick. For the .2 mm gap, could you have adjusted the extrusion width to compensate, i.e. make line width say .66 mm or even .5? would that work?
@fischer3d5 жыл бұрын
i think technically on the screen it would close up the gap, but in the actual print there is a limit to the extrusion width that can come out of the nozzle. so the slice preview would likely show it closed up, but the physical print would still have the gap.
@boowonder8884 жыл бұрын
I like these tips much better to learn the software! It can hold my attention. edit: just started my first prnt sliced by Ideamaker. Stopped it because I chose an infill of 50, hmmm, no! Where can you set temp of the nozzle and bed?
@fischer3d4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. When you hit the slice button choose your fllament template then click Edit. At the bottom hit "Advanced". then find the Temperature tab. nozzle and bed temp are there now. happy printing.

Could you not use the "Per layer settings" to increase the infill on the last couple of layers in order to remove the gap in the top layer ?

Hello Sir. Maybe you want to share one of your standard slicing profiles for PLA?
@Levisgil475 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this one. I what case should we reaaly need to change nozzle. Because i'm stuck with my 0.4mm one for every prints.
@fischer3d5 жыл бұрын
Honestly the first thing I do with a new printer is swap it to a .6 nozzle. Unless you are printing really small detailed prints, like d&d figures, you really wont see much of difference.
@Levisgil475 жыл бұрын
@@fischer3d Hmm, That's interesting. So how small would you print walls , top and bottom with this 0.6mm nozzle and ideamaker?
@fischer3d5 жыл бұрын
My stock profile is 3 walls, 3 bottom layers, 8 top layers.
@Levisgil475 жыл бұрын
@@fischer3d Ok, but how small did you get for the wall on the filament extrusion using the option "single extrusion width"? By default, the minimal extrusion percentage is 25%. So for the 3 walls it would be like 0.45mm thickness. Is that right? Maybe smaller if you lower the % to 10%.
@fischer3d5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, don't really think about it like that. It's for gap filling so it wont override all your other slice settings. Think about it more like WHEN to apply vs HOW MUCH when there is a gap to be filled. It's very unlikely that a .6 nozzle will ever actually produce a line width of .198 (33% of .6 nozzle) or 200%. Those settings are more of an upper and lower range telling the software when to apply gap filling. I mean maybe, but not something i've done extensive testing on.
@svenniefpv4 жыл бұрын
in the new version it's not the percentage of your layer hight but the percentage of your nozzle width. an extra question. Is it possible to graduate slowly form layerhigt Z1 to Z2 in steps closer than min or max. example the nozzle goes from 0.2 to .28 at 1 layer but i want it from 0.2 to 0.24 and than 0.28. zo the layers are smoother. I set the layer hight sampling step @j 0.04mm but it doesn't do the trick
@fischer3d4 жыл бұрын
In this case I'd use the per layer settings. It gives you finer control over when and how much you want to change layer heights. The videos talks about infill, but the concept and process for changing layer heights is the. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oH-XppRoaceieKc

in IDEAMAKER under the catagory called RECENT FILES... is their a way you can retrieve more then the last 10 of these or are they lost because you can only store the last 10 g codes ?
@fischer3d Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I'm not finding that as a configurable setting. I've looked under Edit>Preferences and the config.xml that is stored on the local machine. It lists the recent 10 files, but no setting I can see to adjust how many recent files are displayed.

Hey man, thanks for the video, im having some blobs in the surface of my prints with only ideamaker, which id like to use because some printes are HOURS faster than in Cura and use less material with similar quality, the only thing, as i said is these blobs, ive been reading it might be about the slicing resolution, which in cura i use some nice custom max resolution settings so it really might be that, but i cant find a siimlar setting in ideamaker, could you help me out?
@fischer3d3 жыл бұрын
blobs like on walls near seams or like on a top surface, like flat surface? you can usually tackle blobs by messing with your retraction restart distance. i usually run at -0.30. find it on the Extruder tab, "extra restart amount" set it to -0.20 or -0.30.
