Okay some explaining that you don’t need but here ya go:) So first we have a field that obviously had a battle/war, and Jin walked among it seeing a dove which is usually a symbol of peace/healing/hope - but it is killed or at the very least dying, meaning with all that going on, all the wars- peace and hope is obvi dying out. Cuts to Jungkook who is bound running (many connect the dove is being represented by Junkook.) Scene cuts to Jimin who is next to a child holding a drum, and to a pile of drums. Now drums are used in many cultures as symbolizing of renewal or balance in a persons life, as well as the rhythm of life. Also people use them as in giving commands in battle but I think in this case it’s used as renewal or rebirth as well. Kids have a big impact in BTS because their main message is to reach out to the youth. (Keep that in mind) Scene cuts to V who is in the position as Christ was on the cross and he’s next to a blindfolded child. After research a blindfolded person apparently is very symbolic (they use it a lot lol)- there’s this blindfolded angel symbol where the girl weeps tears of blood while being blindfolded, or being alone. It’s symbolic because the meaning is related to something tragic like experiences or feelings BUT that theyll heal. Blindfolds are also seen as barriers that could work emotionally or literally. Next It cuts to RM who is the literal representation of Noah’s Ark. (there is no other explanation it’s literally that.) Anyway the story of Noah’s ark is pretty much the destroying of everything unpure and unholy to create something new. Aka. Birth and renewal. Which in Christianity is baptism in accepting Jesus Christ as the savior- meaning you rebirth in the waters from your old to new. Also many connect it in the Bible as the ark is the only way to pass to the new, since it’s the symbolism of Jesus. ANYWAY in the story there are two birds. The Raven. And the Dove. Both of which Noah sent out to look for the new land. (Let’s keep that in mind shall we children) EHEM *jungkook is is still running. Although looking a bit tired by the second* Jin meanwhile takes the dove into a room with a bunch of cages. Covers it. Jimin reaches toward the child- again, remember we talked about BTS’ main point in life? To reach the youth? Jin sees the cage move a bit and looks outside to see what changed. Jungkook is running HARD while mr Jimin is having a dance off. Then bam. Jk falls down and loses consciousness. Which cuts immediately to JHope who is rapping in the midst of dead trees and Jungkook being eaten by a Raven. Let’s take a look at our birds again shall we. Dove is the meaning of hope and peace, while the Raven actually contrary to popular belief doesn’t mean the worst- i mean it does have the ill omen aspect to it. But it also means rebirth and an insight or prophecy. Or- another main meaning is a connection of the spiritual to the world. The entire album is based off of this one book and in it the Raven is actually a symbol of the last two instead of the bad omen. Ravens misunderstood man 😞. Although technically it could also mean the sin and the bad trying to peck the hope away. 🤷‍♀️ So anyway he’s being pecked at by a Raven. Meanwhile cut to suga who is most likely in a youth ministry, or church. He’s the only one from them all who is actually inside- and mostly candle lit. Or aka fire (put a pin in that.) NOW. The little girl with the blindfold is staring in front of her- So finally the act of healing might have happened or is at least beginning to happen. Also- the child with Jimin beats the drum which could symbolize the rhythm of life again- and a command LOW BEHOLD Jungkook opens his eyes and the wall opens. V takes the blind fold off of the girl and they wait for the path to fully open. Cut to kookie now in a peaceful setting just walking towards the water and singing angelic like. He walks into the water, which generally points to being baptized- since naturally water also means healing and rebirth. Let’s take a look at baptism REAL quick- it pretty much means getting rid of the spikes and the things that cause you pain and suffering, getting rid of everything that binds you to the old world. Glancing at his bound hands (which are bound with spikes - ppl tend to connect it to the crown that Jesus had on his head as he was crucified. As it was intended to bring more pain and suffering) You see people walking up to the wall including five of the members. Including Jin with his cage. Just as Jungkook lowers his hands into the water- Jin sets the bird free. And Kookie lifts a conch out of the water and- get this. blows it. Ehem. A Conch. In Lord of the Flies, It’s an emblem of power, authority, and sovereignty. Which is what it also means in Hindu culture, as well as a giver of longevity, and prosperity. If you blow a conch it’s symbol is the fact of the sound vanishing evil spirits and averting bad things as well as seen as a cleanser of sin. REBIRTH. Cut to the mountain scene (also seen as mount avarat which is the mountain Noah’s ark landed on. Jungkook brings the conch and eventually the whole mountain goes up in flames. Seen as destroying their old to make the new. As flames also purify. Again. Symbolizing rebirth. As the destroying happened it cuts immediately to the scene of everything regrowing. Jungkook joins the rest and the cliff which could also stand for mount avarat. We see them going up it also in simbolizarían of continuing- while Junkook finally runs again, but this time happy- meaning hope is free and present again. We also see the dove returning but seven of them now (Gods number and the album name as well as the member number) the dove also returned to Noah’s ark and brought him a branch- meant the world was born anew. Meanwhile the raven who was sent would fly to and fro not flying far enough to see what was beyond the waters. Noah sent him as an animal who ate meat- assuming when the waters went down their would literally be corpses. He was looking back to the destruction- he didn’t think the old world would literally be washed away. Meaning no corpses man. but instead the dove brought back the olive branch. And there you have it folks, a version of the video that was around at the time :)

Everytime they perform this song live it's always abit different and it still excites me when they perform this song and it never gets old. Also this song has a lot of movie/ tv references from maze runner to lion king to game of thrones but also if you look closer there are also lots of biblical references from noahs ark to the thorn cuffs JK is wearing to more. My fav bit of the song is JK'S solo bit as his voice is just so smooth and perfect and my fav bit of the MV is the dance break which I wasn't expecting. I know many have their theories and there’s no animal cruelty, the first time in awhile (seven years) they finally surprised me 👀 with so much symbolism using a live marching band along with church chorus and the moment I saw Jin battlefield w/ bird & empty cage after along battle, Jimin w/things of the past, blindfolded girl w/Tae broken wings & neck tattoo (represents infection), namjoon w/ animals & ship, thornbinded bleeding jungkook, Hobi open field of twisted trees w/passed out JK, Suga in underworld. Everything literally reminds everyone of lord of the rings and noah’s ark with maze runner combination of the lion king with the different time period outfits & scenes, apocalyptic fake love dance break, dove of hope, JK horn call of freedom while trying to understand his story then he does the young forever run up the rock smiling and i’m like 😱🤯 After watching the second time OMG OMG I think finally got the meaning toward the end Jin released the dove (represents JK), the horn call of freedom, walking through the wall, the firestorm and up the rock is them beginning of a new chapter with new songs, genres, and concepts. Regarding the wall I believe this is BTS’s way of showing that they’re ready to move onto the next chapter of hope & freedom showing how far theyve come and confidently walking up the pride rock b/c of how proud they are of their legacy. which is why they put their debut track “NO MORE DREAM” changing to “DREAM” (PAST MEETS PRESENT) *THERES SO MANY APOCALYPTIC REFERENCES* They finally put together their HYYH storyline which means they have completed that part of the story! *Regarding the blindfold girl, there’s many theories....some say she could be innocence so that she doesn’t see the negative world then V uncovers her eyes to a better place and others say her along with the extra people represent the ARMY and its BTS way of showing the people who are blinded (not physically) to the positive impact the music has in the world and leading them to a better future but the true meaning behind the girl is she represents the little sister V lost (HYYH Storyline). Also, those were real thorns around JK’s wrists which is according to him one of the reasons he was running because he wanted to get them off and he did when he entered the pond which was a real place then picked up the horn to blow it (No worries I’m sure he was he was vaccinated before getting into the water so he wouldn’t get sick or catch a disease).* #BTSOn

We don't care if you watch stuff on your own, if you hadn't seen this one yet :P Also, a very nice explanation/interpretation of the MV is the one from Jolly and the priest (argh don't remember his name), he's awesome, and I'm not christian btw so a lot of biblical references were lost to me (apart from Noah's ark). ^^
