Identifying 1 Cylinder Kohler K-Series Engine Blocks

10hp and 12hp kohlers actually both say k301 on the engine block. The only way to check for horsepower is by looking up the engine bore or looking at the sticker on the front engine shroud.

can you take a 10 and bore it to make it a 12 using a 12 hp kit standard asuming the crank is in speck?

I have one with 10 head bolts and a k321 fan cover on it. I was told it was 16 hp but wasnt sure. Thanks

No numbers stamped on the caseing just took the pully off to look . The guy said he switched the bad 10 hp for a 12 hp. It's an old cub 102 and am now restoring it and am at the engine. The label is missing that was on the fan shroud, go figure. I would like to get the right parts when ordering.

Thankyou sir. Thought I was sold a 14 horse, they would be wrong. Turns ot it's a12 horse. Which is a good thing in my situation

Ok mine hase a big chip in the bottom of the cilinder and a crack about 1/2 " I can sea and feel .the rod broke now I'm out a block and crank if I can not fix it and I live in Washington wair parts for these are hard to find.the chip is allso about 1/2 inch into the cilinder.block is marked D-4
