the painted rocks are definitely a thing here in Southern Vancouver Island. There is an artist that makes amazing driftwood animals and various creatures too. He started on a popular beach and has now expanded into wooded parks hiding his creatures here and there. People seem to like it, haven't seen many haters.

So funny to be from the PNW and complain about an extended summer but, yikes, I hope it ends soon so it doesn't continue to mess with shroom season! Thanks for doing such a great job with the videos. I love that you are shooting as you go like a real mushroom hunter rather than super edited! Keep up the good work!

Just watched you for the first time, and really enjoyed the vibe, and didn't find it sloppy at all. And as a new forager in Houston, TX that views the PNW as mushroom mecca, I was excited that you came across a Short Footed Russula. I also found a few here in my yard about a month ago, after we finally got some rain. So super cool for a newb like me to have similar species as up there. Excited to watch your other videos, and will be eagerly waiting for some rainfall up your way, to see that beautiful bloom finally happen!

11:35 looks like a VooDoo bell, if it was black The bottom looks blue-bruised, could be from the surrounding area, transported by mychorrizae. Sumac turns the grass red around here, the pigment moves between the 2 plants via mychorrizae.. I think Side note, I saw some guy recently talking about mushroom medicine, they are basically made of chitin... so mushroom medecine needs to be extracted somehow to be effective. You can also add things to that to upgrade the medecine. So food mushrooms, you cook, medicinal mushrooms, extract.

Question: What spores will be dropped from the Lactarius after infection? Will it be from the Lactarius, from the Hypomyces lactifluorum or both? Would it depend on which stage of growth the Latarius is at when infected? Does the Hypomyces lactifluorum take over and only allow it's spores to be release thus stopping Lactarius from future colonization?
@mushroomwonderland12 жыл бұрын
Here in the west the only known host for the Hypomyces is the Russula brevipies,and the parasitic infection of the host will render it unable to produce spores of its own, so the spores will be from the Hypomyces.🙏🍄
@TheTubejunky2 жыл бұрын
@@mushroomwonderland1 Wow, So even though the parasite converts them into a choice edible they're basically killing off the host's ability to reproduce and may wipe out it's host completely? Thanks for sharing!

Hi Aaron, as someone who has been watching your videos for a long while, I hope it’s ok for me to tell you to lose the music. I disagree. The music is curious and playful. It's fun which mushroom hunting should be and I don't feel it takes away from what Aaron is trying to say, I can hear him plain as day.

up here in Bellingham WA it's been super hot and dry for the last 2 plus months. my girl and I cannot wait for the rains to come! I'm frustrated with it ugh. Hopefully we'll be getting a 2-3 day rain and we'll be out there a few days later. Do you think once it does it's going to be a good season or is it just going to be a shorter harvest window.
@mushroomwonderland12 жыл бұрын
Tough to say, but I do think the mushrooms are going to explode when it does rain, that mycelium is eagar! But who knows how long the main shrooming season will go, hopefully extending into January.

Hey there my name is Sachi, and I'm disabled and and somewhat limited Mobility wise. But I am a mushroom fanatic, I even trained one of my dogs to send out Oregon truffles or Washington truffles whatever you want to call them depending on the state. At any rate I live in Olympia, and I was wondering if you had any suggestions for me as to where I might find chanterelles or any other really edible mushrooms that is close to me I live a couple blocks away from the hospital and there is some dense forest nearby me however I am still in town. If you have any suggestions for me that I might be able to walk even though I am Limited, I do have a caregiver who is my brother and my best friend and I have gotten him equally excited about mushrooms I've done studying of mushrooms and I feel very confident about finding certain mushrooms that are edible I know that I am capable of determining those and anything I am not capable of determining I would reach out for help from the local Society nearby me.. regardless if you have any suggestions for me I would be very very appreciative as I have wanted for quite some time to go out and find some mushrooms and unfortunately I just keep ending up back in the hospital at every time they are most likely to show themselves. Thanks so much for your time I love your videos blessings and peace
