I'm so happy to see these soldiers of the South. I appreciate the mention of a veteran from Fitzgerald, Georgia, which is very near to me.❤

Frank Ironmonger (1853 -- 1939), 11 years old when, in November, 1864, he enlisted in the Army of Northern Virginia. He was at Sailor's Creek, and served as a courier for General Mahone. At Appomattox, he was paroled on April 10th, 1865, when Lee surrendered.

Hoorah for my home state Alabama, although my Confederate ancestors lie in hollowed ground in Arkansas. Thank you BirdDogg for sharing this greatly underappreciated archival video.

Wow! This is really impressive...to actually see these Veterns! My Great Grandfather Thomas Benton Caldwell (Missouri) was with the South during the War. He married Lucinthia Smith of South Carolina. They had children. Their Grandson, Arthur Caldwell, who lived in Chevy Chase, Maryland...worked in the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Justice Department. He was involved in Intergration in the South. His Father John, who also was an attorney, and Arthur, never spoke or corresponded with each other! Sad...so much bitter, unforgiving anger of that time over the issues...really did divide Americans (and even families)!!!

True heroes and men of courage and integrity. The ignorant masses of today will not know them or understand their valor and sacrifice, but regardless of how they are misunderstood and even vilified today, nothing will erase what they were really about and what they stood for and did.

Films and photos of our honorable Confererate veterans, BirdDogg. I live in central Alabama and there is hardly an old cemetery around here that does not have the final resting place of those who fought in the war of Northen aggression. Many of my ancestors fought in that war for the south and I appreciate the fact that your videos help keep their memory alive.

Sorry to nag but the playlist sucks it doesn't match the video. I know complaining doesn't help anything.

How so? There’s 100 videos in the playlist. Roughly 80 of them are of me literally reading civil war soldiers diaries that I transcribed. With that said, I document history, as well as the artifacts I find and I share content that is in a similar vein. It’d be one thing if I was vlogging and calling it civil war diaries or something but, yeah, I’m spending hours nailing down who these guys are and compiling it into a (semi) palatable format and it’s directly related to my civil war diaries series . At any rate, when you get figured the best way to format organizing over 500 or so videos on a channel, from metal detecting, to preserving artifacts, to rescuing animals, to custom onsite historic documentaries, to music videos, to documenting your own personal life, make me a how to video, I’ll tune in. The beauty of KZbin is anyone can be like Burger King and have it their way… just make your own channel and grill to taste.

I must say I highly respect the work you are doing I wish constructive criticism could be expressed more easily I was just annoyed by the music it takes away the amazing video. If there was a fiddle playing instead of a violin now that's a sound that touches the soul. something southern with all do respect. 👍
