JEREMIAH 1:4-10
And the word of the Lord was to me:
5 - Before I formed you in the womb, I already knew you; before you came out of the womb, I chose you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.
6 I answered:
O Sovereign Lord! I do not know how to speak, for I am too young.
7 But the Lord said to me:
Don't say, “I am still young.” You will go to everyone I send you to, and you will speak whatever I command you.
8 Don't be afraid of them, because I am with you, and I will save you,” the Lord said.
9 The Lord stretched out his hand, touched my lips, and said to me:
Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.
10 “Look, today I will set you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and break, to destroy and ruin, to build and plant.
THE MAIN POINTS OF THE SERMON ON IDENTITY:
Your identity is defined by your vocation!
Vocation is the name given to you by the Creator.
Vocation does not describe your work, but your essence, yourself.
Vocation is born out of the fact that God knows you!
If God has called you to something, then God knows something good about you!
Vocation is not born out of your abilities!
Your abilities are born out of your calling.
God supplies his resources: authority, power, and the Word.
Your vocation and the timing of the fulfillment of your calling are often not the same: don't confuse this.
