both parameters are important. accuracy will allow you to make a good leap to a large distance so that it does not break. speed will allow you to quickly overcome the boards and hit your target

If the attraction magnet progress has already started and you or the Norton moves quickly to another position, the magnet will take effect anyways and will pull you from where you are to the prospector's position, that's how people do the magnet and priestess's portal trick
