Great reference video, Ollie, this is at the top of my list!

You dont need google for a slope calculator. Slope is equal to Rise divided by Run times 100 (100 x rise/run). Make sure you're in the same units. So 150mm, or 1.5m of fall (rise) over a 100m length (run) is 100*1.5/100 = 1.5% slope. A more difficult example would be 83mm fall over 36.2m is 100*.83/36.2 = 2.29% slope.

Well you learn something everyday! Thanks Neal, a useful calculation to know. I should have listened more in maths!

Always great content Ollie.. I appreciate the time you put into these videos.... Are you going to review you pick up? I'm interested in your towing set up and what you think to the nissan.. Tks
@Olliegunns2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I try to make content I would want to watch, or help others like me understand if this new tech is worth it or not. To be honest I wasn't going to review my Navara, they have stopped making them for Europe now so didn't really think it was worth it - same with my Indespension trailer - no longer made! So I could say its the best thing ever - but you cant buy one! I might do something on towing setups in general, because when you are running right at capacity on the trailer, you have less capacity in the pickup than you might think. Whilst they can tow 3.5t, they don't have the train weight to carry anything whilst towing that weight!

That's a good point a video on towing/ trailer weights, etc would be a good watch especially f us lads with the 8026 we're definitely getting close to the limit. I've got batesons light weight trailer but still very close t bein over weight

Quite helpful, have been looking at Idig, Leica, Topcon, and Trimble…It is said Topcon is old technology, Idig is not well known here, Trimble is scalable, wondering if you have any regrets going with Idig? I am also landscaping, terrace work project looming, and I have to choose so I can get it installed for the season. What is you overall opinion…? Would love the feedback.
@Olliegunns2 жыл бұрын
It really depends on your work, but for a 2D system, I find the Idig setup to be brilliant. I can easily swap it between my two machines, its accurate, easy to use and cheaper to buy than the Trimble 2d system.

Good Videos mate. Do you have the dozer blade sensor?
@Olliegunns2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I have the upgraded dipper sensor ready for a grade to blade upgrade in the future, but to be honest - I've never yet felt like I need it.

Can you still use a breaker when idig is installed on the machine ? Im concerned about yhe vibrations messing up the system. Thanks

Just bought a CLX 300, but I cant get the slope catch feature to work. All seam to be good, the unit is scanning up and down, however, I do not tent to get the slope % shown in the remote display. Do you have the same issue?
@Olliegunns2 жыл бұрын
I am far from an expert on how it works, I've found the user manual to be pretty useless and I'm sure there are features that I don't know exist! I rarely use slope capture as I'm always trying to set things to a given grade rather than match an unknown one, so I'm not sure it tells you what the % is of the slope when you have captured it. Does your laser stop spinning from time to time when its on the angle setting? Comes up with HI check on the receiver?

Does this whole laser and Idig thing not seem a bit of hassle? Old school operators would tell you it’s shit, is it worth it?
@Olliegunns Жыл бұрын
I can only speak from my experience, for me and my business, it has allowed me to be far more accurate and has removed the need for another man to check the grade, or for me to get out and do it myself. The time saved there alone has paid for itself very quickly.

Its a Leica CLX 300. The combo rod eye remote thing is really handy for not getting out the cab to adjust grade, mask the beam, put it to sleep over lunch etc.
