And even then, in the very remote offchance that was the case, I'd still wager its more important to prevent other accidents from happening rather than chase the culprit. While it wasnt the most reckless driving, I've seen at least 3 times where it could have gone badly if the other drivers werent as alert. Just one being distracted would have been enough.

It's illegal to even brandish your firearm at someone while driving except in SOME states where "lawful brandishing" is allowed in an instance where someone is actively threatening your life with their vehicle (i.e. swerving at you, actively ramming you, trying to force you off the road, etc.). In those instances it's seen as deterring an immediate threat to your life/well being.
